Stayed at the Oak Lea overnight on a Saturday in September. The location is excellent as it is central and close to many of the attractions. The hotel is one of the more larger hotels in Albert Road and from the outside looks fine. The public areas are in reasonable condition and the hosts are pleasant and helpfull. The room we had was typical of any small hotel room in Blackpool, with the decor being dated and well lived in. I would suggest that if they don't refurbish and decorate soon then it will soon be described as grubby. The cost was £70 for two of us which is pretty average so I guess a pretty average hotel room is what you should expect.

I run a coach trip and have done for 15 years and have stayed in many of the hotels in blackpools albert road. I had to write this review as The Oaklea has to be the best hotel i have stayed in , john and andrew are absolutely fantastic the food along with service was better than the 4 and 5* hotels i have stayed in. I have disabled people on my trip and John made there holiday with his friendly courteous manor I would advise anyone to stay there of any age or ability they met all our needs from my 8year old son to my grandparents friends 86! nothing is ever a problem at the oaklea and we will be going back next year

Just back from a 6 day break to Blackpool and I just had to post this review. You wait all year for your holiday and end up in a dirty hotel where the management are unfriendly and have faces on them like lurgan spades but then again what do you expect for £26.00 a night!!!!!!!!!! I have been to Blackpool on several occasions and stayed in both The Big Blue and The Carousel Hotel but this year we thought we would stay on the Albert Road and what better place than the Oaklea Hotel!!!!!!!!!!! My husband had stayed in the Oaklea on several occasions when he had been to the Stan James World Match Play but is was under different management, if it has been under the current management we would not have picked it. The Breakfast was only served 8.30 am - 9.30 am, the bedroom carpet was never vacuumed during our time, the bed linen was never changed and we had to report to management that the shower didnt work to which we got the reply " it is an old building and when everyone is using the shower at the same time this is to be expected". An alternative room was made available to us but it was in the basement and smelt of damp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Blackpool but would rather stay in a tent than have to stay in The Oaklea Hotel, it is a dirty horrible hole and doesnot deserve to be called a hotel!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please visit Blackpool, it has so much to offer but please DO NOT STAY IN THE OAKLEA HOTEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this was the first time at this hotel and didn't know what to expect but on arriving John at reception made us feel so welcome. Our room was large and warm and the house keeper made sure we had all that we needed daily. Chef was great and cooked scrummy breakfast (buffet style). The bar was large and cozy with comfy seating, probably to comfy as we was always the last to leave. I really don't know why some people leave bad reviews for this hotel, i stayed a long weekend with my family and friends and we all throughly enjoyed our stay, so much that we have booked again for next year to do it all again.

Certainly not one of the friendlist hotels we've ever been to, we had to prise any info we needed as we were handed the room key. Good start. Couldn't even tell you the owners name (I think he was anyway?) as he never introduced himself or acknowledged us for rest of our 5 day stay. Our 'family' room had a mini bed squashed at the side of the double bed leaving not alot of room at either side so wasn't ideally a 'family room'. Shower mat and light-pull filthy, otherwise in room, basic. Only had breakfast there, have had much better, it was bland & greasy, eat as much as you like, if you dare! Couldn't find the pool table advertised on website? It's clearly not there. Best thing about this Hotel was location.
