Hi my mum, my husband and myself went to Blackpool on a mini break for my Birthday on 18th October 2011, we looked on the net for somewhere near the Tower and found The Strathdon Hotel, thank goodness we did too !
We had a four and a half hour drive and were tired when we arrived, as soon as Ian opened the door to us we knew we were going to like it, he was warm and welcoming and we instantly felt at ease and at home, we were given a lovely cup of coffe and biscuits upon arrival with a freindly chat.
We arrived a bit early so Ian said we could leave our luggage in the dining room while we went out for lunch, when we came back we were shown to our rooms and Ian helped take the luggage up. The room my mother had on her own was lovely, she had a double bed to herself, there were tea making facilities, T.V. and a lovely bathroom with complimentry toiletries, our room was equally as well furnished with lovely bright colours, i have to say the bed was really comfy too !!
We all agreed that the hotel was spotless, you could have eaten your dinner off the floor, it knocks spots off some of the top hotels we have stayed abroad.
In the evening we had a drink in the bar and met Veronica, she was equally is nice as Ian is and she is an excellent cook as we found out on our last nite, we wish we had of eaten there for all three nites we stayed. Veronica as with Ian treated us like old friends and we had a great time and had a good laugh with them and the other guests.
The breakfasts were just brilliant, we had a great choice and Ian was very attentive, you certainly would not go hungry in the Strathdon.
It was my Birthday on our second day and i got taken out to an Italian restaurant near the Tower, it was a really great meal and nite, we went back to the hotel as my mum bought a surprise cake for me, Veronica came out the kitchen with it and her, Ian and the other guests sang to me, it was the " Icing on the cake " ........pardon the pun ha ha.....
I would definately recommend this hotel for lots of reasons but none more than the very warm welcome and freindleness that was recieved by myself and my family....they truly do deserve their 4 stars ****
Thankyou Ian and Veronica for making myself and my family very happy and making the long trip from Norfolk very worth while, i had a fab birthday and we will come back soon........
