“Ideal base for Blackpool Weekend”
Reviewed 12 November 2013

We booked a short weekend trip away as the year has been a bit stressful so far, it was the end of season but Hotel was still buzzing when we arrived, the owner was friendly, welcoming and during our stay did everything he could to help.

Lovely breakfast to set you up for the day, although owner soon made my partner some scrambled eggs on toast as an alternative.

Theres a little bar which was open when we needed a drink, but there was an out of hours bell if you wanted it.

Its a great place to base yourself at, as the sights are within walking distance and 10 mins you are down on the North Promenade and tram stop, we loved it as parked the car and forgot about it for 3 days, parking in either Bank Street or the Apcoa multi storey is about £6 for 48 hours and they are both a short walking distance from the Hotel.

We had a great stay and will certainly stay here again, yes its billed as no frills, but we found it pleasant and value for money.....Highly Recommended.

Room Tip: Room 1 was a lovely comfy room, very presentable with en suite and at back of hotel so not much noi...

your very welcome! we try to accommodate and make guests feel at home and welcome as possible, and while we are cheap and no frills, both what we offer in our room quality and standards exceeds what people expect for such low prices. giving our guests a good experience is our goal.
many thanks, Hope we see you again soon.

I booked this lovely Hotel via the Hotel website, I booked 3 nights in this hotel at a very cheap price for me and my partner. Our stay at this hotel was lovely, The owner is really friendly and always let on to us to have a good chat. We had great banter with him he's very approachable and very easy to get on with he made our stay worth while. The hotel itself is in a very good location in easy reach of Blackpool north train station 5-6 min walk at least and so easy to find, also the hotel is close to loads of bars and pubs its really well located. Edward hotel is a very good hotel, The owner has made a really nice cozy bar in the hotel and the drink prices are cheap too me and my partner had a nice drink when we got there and we had some fun with the owner, he played our favorite tunes for us as he asked us what kinda music we was into as I like northern soul music and my partner loves reggae so he played some tunes for us to we had abit of disco in the bar it was well good, the owner has great taste in music and has he likes northern soul music like me he's certainly in my good books hehe. Our bedroom was lovely is was a biggish room for a small hotel, me and partner have stayed in some really expensive and posh hotels with smaller rooms then the room we stayed in which was room 1, we had a lovely king sized bed oh it was very comfy indeed and the bathroom was lovely too. Nice clean towels and everywhere was nice. The only downfall I have is there is a nice kettle but no cups or tea spoons? on the website it does state that you can purchase milk, tea and coffee at a cheap price from the hotel which i don't mind. Me and my partner wasn't bothered anyhow as we had our first alcoholic drinks in the hotel bar and had the rest of our other drinks out, as we spent most of our time out and about! But I would stay here again its lovely as the owner goes the extra mile to make our stay worth while. I would deffo recommend this hotel, please check this place out.

Room Tip: Choose room 1 it has a lovely king-size bed

We visited the Edward Hotel for 2 days as a family to see the illuminations. We checked in at 3pm (can check in from 2pm). After being given our keys, we made our way to the rooms only to find that ALL 3 had not been cleaned yet and were not ready. This had not been mentioned when we checked in.

After being told by the cleaner that there had been a hen party in the rooms and they were a mess, I then spoke to the owner who said 'oh, has he not finished yet. It's taking him a while today' and then proceeded to disappear downstairs. It took almost an hour, with us taking refuge in the room which had finally been finished until we could actually settle into our own rooms.

Rooms
We had rooms 1,2 and 4.
+Rooms 1&2 were spacious doubles with lovely en suite bathrooms, TV and kettle.
+/-Room 4 was a little more cramped, a triple but the beds were too close together... could be rearranged to accommodate this a lot better! (also had TV, kettle and en suite)

- The rooms were overpowered with the smell of air freshener. Not needed in the lovely decorated rooms! We had to have the windows open all night to reduce the smell. I could understand if people had been smoking, open a window, but it was like a whole can of air freshener had been used in just one room!
- It says tea and coffee facilities were available in the rooms. It might just be me but usually that means: kettle, cups and tea spoons. We brought our own tea knowing it was not provided but didn't expect to need cups and spoons!

Please don't take this as a negative review, we had a lovely stay and once they were ready, the rooms were lovely. The hotel is close to all the amenities with a cheap car park nearby and at a very good rate. (£26 for double £39 triple)

The only thing I would advise the Edward Hotel is to stop using so much air freshener and provide cups for guests or make it clear that they are not provided.

Room Tip: Rooms 1&2 are spacious doubles on the back away from street noise!

many thanks for your revue, unfortunately on this rare occasion two of your 3 rooms were not ready when you arrived at 2.40pm and i did say you can put all your bags in the 1 room that was ready after checking with the cleaner who told me about 30 minutes all rooms would be ready. but you decided to go into all 3 rooms while the cleaner had to work around you all. you mention air freshener it wasnt, we use flash for cleaning our bathrooms also the window ledges shelves etc and as you say our rooms are clean, it seems that our obsession with cleaning backfired on us on this occasion. at the bargain basement prices we charge for no frills room only offers that you booked and read about before you came you brought your own tea instead of buying our tea and coffee pack at £1 each no problem your choice and we gave you cups and teaspoons to put your own tea in. not an issue. you mention the size of the rooms. rooms 1 and 2 were formerly 2 rooms each which i had made into just 1 each luxurious huge rooms for blackpool standards and room 4 is also larger than most triple rooms in Blackpool B+B,s. we can only offer the no frills room only tarrif on a prolonged period if enough people take advantage of our extras such as breakfast etc. as we aim to keep our standards high. formerly we charged in line with many other b+b,s localy at £25pppn for the b+b package with tea and coffee in the rooms.which i think anyone reading can spot why we are one of the busiest around.

Tucked away between a club and a bar... the proprietor was really helpful and friendly. This guest house is very convenient for the town and the front. A short walk to either. It was clean and tidy, and doesn't pretend to be anything that it is not.... no frills, value for the money. Breakfast for a fiver on the first day was nice, the café over the road do a lovely breakfast also!
Downside, the room smelled smoky (sure I ticked no smoking on the search engine) but wasn't too bad after flinging the windows open! Noise from the bars and clubs in the street went on all night...it wasn't too bad but there appeared to be base thumping thro the walls at 6am :( (only on the Fri night/Sat am)
There is no parking at the hotel but 3 mins around the corner (walk) is a 24 hour carpark which cost £6 for 2 days (coins only - no change given) in Banks Street.
Great weekend overall - the weather was kind to us too :) - Illuminations were brilliant!

Room Tip: Try the breakfast - worth a fiver!

thanks for your revue, glad you had a good stay, ill just clarify the noise issues you mentioned, there is no noise from the bars either side that get into any of the bedrooms, however on a friday and saturday night the bar on our left can be heard inside this hotel as you enter from the front door only in that landing which is unfortunate but again cannot be heard in the bedrooms. good news his show is relocating shortly so it wont be an unnescessary extra comment to be made anymore. as for your room smelling smokey this is unusual and i have had a word with the cleaner, i can only add ALL of our rooms are smoking ALLOWED rooms as ADVERTISED. We do our best and seldom fail to please non smokers. im glad you had a good breakfast with us which we know is better value and quality and quantity than the cafes in town.

Thank you very much! you are some of the 1st people to come through on our no frills room only bookings, it seems to be working very well as its so much cheaper than our old B+B tarrif for our guests because even if they order everything on the extras menu its still £££s cheaper than our rigid old B+B prices and more people are booking from edward hotel dot net than ever before.
your company was great and apreciated and the next plan is to work out how to make the bar prices even cheaper than they already are. and at prices from £12 a night room only yes we are busy. all the best and see you all again soon.xx

you were a pleasure and are welcome back anytime!

may i take the opportunity on your kind words to put a note on here for any undesireable charachters who are intent on being anti social or behave like animals thinking they can do what they like in B+B,s and hotels.
We have just won our 1st damages case against guests who stayed here a while back and caused damage and thought they didnt need to pay for it. well they just have! and it cost them a huge amount more than the original damages cost.
We strive to keep the Eward safe clen and to a good standard for decent people to enjoy!
