This review relates to the Health Spa at this hotel as we didn't use the accomodation. We took a back and facial massage together with cream tea and this included use of the leisure facilities. The massages were very good indeed and would have them again. There were however no slippers supplied and after the treatments you had to carry all your clothes barefoot along the corridor to the changing rooms, put them in a locker then you could access the pool area directly. The water in the pool was not particulary warm as was the shower afterwards. The cream tea which was taken in the "Victoria Pub" consisted of sandwiches, a scone and jam with cream and a pot of tea each was o.k. except there was no cream and the sandwiches were all on white bread(no choice), and amounted to approx 1 double round of bread- but were adequate. At about 3.30 p.m. the pub bar was noisy and not really what you wanted after arelaxing spa.

Get rid of all the smokers that hang around the front of your Hotel, when the doors open the tobacco drifts through reception, down the corridors and down into the fitness centre !! We stayed on Saturday and this was the greeting we arrived to, not a good start. The room was in a great spot over the outdoor pool, but the carpet was covered in pink sequins.... "Get Hoovering" we went for down to Pub area and the table tops were full of drink and ring marks "Get wiping down" . The following morning looking out of windows in the room, the windows were dirty......... on the inside, we wiped one side clear and left the other "Get Cleaning".
On the upside, the beds were amazing, breakfast faultless and great fitness facilities, its a fabulous Hotel....keep it that way !!

Room Tip: Book rooms over the outside pool for great views !!

Went with the groupon deal , checked in ok , room average , room 204 , no complimentarys in shower room , or buscuits to nibble , shower was poor with little power.
3 course meal at the italian was average but served well. The saltimbocca chicken is one to avoid though , really dry with no sauce , and the choc profitteroles so big it would have satisfied 2 or 3 !
the pub part was busy and lively but after we retired to bed even though we were well away we could still clients in room above and to the side until well into the morning.
i would have telephoned reception but there was no instructions on number to call or general guide left inside the room.

we stayed at the village Herons reach for the first time. We decided to stay for one night as I had booked to use the health spa. The hotel looks nice from the outside. Receiptionist did not tell us everything we needed to know so we had to keep asking. The room was standard but dark, the view was nice and the room was clean and bed was comfortable. The heater in the bathroom did not work and the bathroom was so small you virtually had to climb over the toilet to get into the bath to have a shower. There was no info in the room. We were not inform of a disco but certainly heard it until if finished at 12.00. Then we were woken at 7 am by the house staff who decided to have a loud conversation in the hall and not in their office.
The restuarant service was awful but the food was was really nice and breakfast was not bad but no one told you where everything was, you had to look forit your self.

The only thing I would recommend is the health spa as the staff were great and made you feel special. The Village pub with in the hotel I would recommend as well the staff there where very nice and friendy and food looked good as well. This is the only area I would visit again. Considering this had a reputation as one of the top hotels I think it has failed miserable.

We stayed here on a one night dinner, bed and breakfast deal which only cost us £59. Room was nice, spacious and very clean but I have to agree with other reviews that they are very dark! The leisure facilities were excellent. Lovely pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Even an outdoor pool which I believe is meant to be heated but most people were getting in then straight back out again cause it was freezing cold which was a shame. I managed to brave the cold and swim a few lengths! We were quite nervous about eating as we had read many poor reviews about the Italian/American restaurant but I must be honest, the food was fine. We got off to a bad start by being made to wait in the bar as a table wasn't ready for us (althought we had arranged a time slot when the hotel rang us prior to our stay). The couple coming to dine after us also got asked to wait but they requested a complimentary drink which they got for the wait. We overheard this and also asked and got a complimentary drink. When we finally got seated, our waiter Brad was very helpful!! I had stuffed mushrooms to start and my girlfriend had deep fried mozeralla. Both were very enjoyable. We both had pasta for a main, I had ariabatta and my girlfriend has spag bol. Ok it's not great quality food but tasty enough. For desserts, we had cheesecake and profiteroles. These were both beautiful! The drinks menu is very very overpriced! Overall, a nice enough meal and works out reasonable when on a deal but I certainly wouldn't pay full price. We had a nice one night stay and would come back again if the same deal came up.

Booked the weekend a couple of weeks in advance to meet up with friends. Impressed by the fact that we were contacted during the week before we arrived to confirm our dinner reservation for Saturday (rather than Friday as per the offer) and that a note regarding our room preference would be made on our record. On arrival no note recorded but reception acted immediately and our room and bed choice was great. Shame really that the lights in the room were too dim and being winter we didn't get the benefit of much natural light - actually difficult to read in the room (not just old age...).

Staff at every point were very willing to help and assist, cleaning supervisor let us into our room when keycard didn't work, reception made arrangements for an early breakfast and sorted out room and bed preference on arrival. But at each point something was missing in that the messages didn't quite get to where they were intended. Restaurant not aware that we had a Saturday evening reservation for dinner; and not aware that we were taking an early breakfast on Sunday as well as no note on our record regarding room requirements.

Cold plates for a hot breakfast are not a good idea but the restaurant service was quick - sent back a caesar salad which missed the parmesan but the dinner deal was good value (although maybe depended on choice) - stuck to beer since wine list was very expensive.

Great atmosphere in Victory Pub / Claret Jug and staff in golf club and spa extremely helpful - my wife was disappointed at not being able to book spa sessions during our visit and probably best to book in advance.

Room Tip: Make sure you're at the rear of the hotel overlooking the golf course if possible our friends ov...

Just had a one night break at herons reach, hotel and spa very good.
Dont know where to start with the restaurant, absolutely atrocious, we asked for leek and potato soup, it came out as thick horrible cold broccoli, which in all fairness the young waiter steven did apologise and offered to change it. Next main meal I had pasta, my husband had some sort of chicken dish, sorry bloody awful, by dessert couldn't be bothered, we had spent £26.00 on a bottle of wine, completely wasted on a dreadful meal, breakfast just as bad, beans in a dirty turine dish looked as though it had been there overnight, and warmed up potatoes from the night before. Plastic table cloth whats that all about. In fairness to the manageress she did note our comments, nice hotel shame about the food, therefore I would not return. Now in the process of writing to the director.
