“Disappointing for the price”
Reviewed 12 August 2012

Family plus room was rather cramped and bathroom far too small, not even that clean with dust on the floor. Very dark room due to a small window in the corner, also hot (no air con). Not even a biscuit on the tea tray!
We arrived on a hot day, so the outdoor swimming pool was a pleasant surpise.
Breakfast was the usual mad rush at 10am, lack of staff, plates and glasses. Had a ask 3 times for a coffee.

Just had the Saturday Rib Eye steak deal with bottle of wine for 2. One of the best steaks I have ever had. Came with chips & side salad and the wine was of good quality ( Argy Malbec ). Would def go back

We booked this based on the bigger room for 2 adults and 4 kids in one room. It was terrible. The bathroom is tiny with soap in a dispenser too high for the kids to reach and no towel rail?? Our room was at the front of the hotel overlooking a patio. It was 3am before we got to sleep with the noise of chatter and scraping chairs below our room. There was also the constant stream of cars till the early ours. The window only opens a few cm so it was very stuffy and hot. The breakfast was very basic. Why the situate family rooms above a patio area I have no idea. We asked to be moved rooms but the hotel was full, so no joy. Thoroughly disappointed :(

Visited with a golf society in early August 2012.

We stayed for 1 night with Bed, Breakfast & Evening Meal (including 2 rounds of golf).

The Hotel was a good standard with very reasonable prices for beer using the free issued "V Card". This gives a discount on popular drinks at the bar like Becks Vier for a very reasonable £2.50!

The golf course was well maintained and a good challenge. It wasn't the longest of courses, although there are many holes where the accuracy is very important especially the last 4 holes with OB out either side of each of the holes.

The dissappointing aspect of the trip was the service and quality of food during the evening meal. Many of our party did not get starters, and the availability / selection of food on the buffet was poor.

Other than this, it was a very enjoyable trip.

After driving up to Blackpool for the day, looked for a last minute hotel on Expedia! Stumbled across the De Vere and was absolutely delighted! Indoor & outdoor pool, spa, golf course, 2 restaurants & a Starbucks! Gorgeous, clean luxurious room which overlooked the outdoor pool. Really enjoyable buffet breakfast. Right next door to Blackpool zoo! Will Definately be staying here again!

Have stayed here several times and each time I leave I say I am never returning, it's difficult to find somewhere that you think may be half decent in the madness of Blackpool and the Hilton was full so here we were again. Hotel has been refurbished to resemble what I would imagine to be in the style of a 70's bordello - pink neon and black/grey flock wallpaper all very odd!! Rooms are very small and cramped. Similar theme of dark depressing furnishings that are somewhat bizarre. On the rooms numbered 300 on, some of the rooms just look onto the roof of a restaurant and because the rooms are like saunas you open your window the only 2 inches it will open and your room stinks of frying/chips which is unpleasant to say the least! Beware also if you book dinner, bed and breakfast and you have children - free dinner is not included for children, this is in very very small print in booking - its not easy to find in booking terms and conditions and staff at hotel don't tell you otherwise until they try to sting you with £14.50 per child when you check out. I can say food is not worth that amount of money - we ate in the "Italian", again dark, depressing decor with a bizarre theme, food bland and churned out by the boat load as the place is busy - I wished I had just gone to local chippy! Breakfast is also served in here - the hotel is in lovely grounds yet you cant eat and see out of the windows because of heavy black blinds !! Food at breakfast seemed to have been standing for sometime and was unappealing, same with pasties - it was better suited to a works canteen. Staff generally are unpleasant and uninterested - it is almost like you have paid your money and we don't care!! This place is seriously overpriced and I would neither recommend it or return !!

Room Tip: Just don't stay !!
