“Great value, lovely food, super service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2012

We stayed at this hotel because it was a great value deal, DB&B plus a bottle of wine with dinner for £22.50 per person! We were going to see the Funny Girls show so this was an ideal hotel for us to use as our base.
Our room was lovely, with a sea view and spa bath. The service was excellent, very friendly, helpful, attentive staff who were extremely busy yet polite and accomodating. Dinner was delicious, not one complaint from any of us. (who normally can be rather fussy about food!)
our only criticism would be regarding the organization at breakfast. Not having a pot of tea was disappointing and although it would seem to make sense to allow access to the hot buffet station on all sides rather than one continuous queue, this didn't happen, hence longer queues and grumbling guests.
I can understand why some people have left awful reviews. Having stayed here twice (once with my husband and two children, the second time with my mum and aunts) I had a much better room the second time around and it made a huge difference. Yes, the hotel is rather tired but you have to weigh the possible detriment of spending a lot of money renovating such a large hotel, ie, the prices would definitely increase!
We found it incredible value for money and would definitely consider staying there again.

Many thanks to the staff!!

J Edmondson

We found the staff very friendly and helpful.Good buffet breakfast and evening meals with good variation.Rooms were a bit tired but served there purpose. We came on a 5 day coach break, really enjoyed ourselves, good value for money. We would stay here again, but perhaps not in the busy season. If you want to stay in a 5 star hotel then pay 5 star prices.

On arrival at reception we were greeted with friendly staff who checked us in and explained keys were not available until later.
The hotel was very busy with families and not coaches as usual.
Once given the room keys we found our rooms large clean and with great sea views.
The hotel put entertainment on in the evenings which was well attended.
The restaurant is waitress service and most of the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient with the exception of one who appeared a new starter and gave us all a good laugh as he walked around and did little. The only fault we had was that on Easter Mondays dinner we could not get a jug of water as staff were too frightened of the female staff member in charge as she had all ready set all her tables for the next sitting,in the end we had to challenge her ourselves to obtain water with our meal.
The food served is all fresh and very hot.
The upper level of the restaurant does however need a good clean with cobwebs and lots of dust on the ironwork over looking the lower area
The chambermaids were especially helpful and cheerful on the second floor where we were staying in rooms 250/252

Room Tip: Rooms with sea view can be bigger but they can also be colder as the windows do not stop all the Bla...

I could not be believe the fantastic value of this hotel at first. But then when you see some of the rooms you can see why. I have never stayed in a hotel which has frosted windows before.
one lady on reception was very helpful and changed our room. some of the others did not care and were quite rude to be honest. Brittania hotels need to investigate and get rid of these unpleasant staff as they are damaging the business. One very pleasant young man who runs the bar area was very nice and a credit to Britannia. I would stay in this hotel again because of its good location and great value.

Room Tip: ask for a sea view or one with no frosted glass

Over the Easter weekend my wife and I took advantage of a £52 per night for two Bed, Breakfast, Evening Dinner + bottle of wine and entertainment, £52 pounds was what it was worth.

Arriving early to take advantage of the free parking only to find all of the spots taken, we parked near the hotel on a side street, to be fair the area being out of the resort centre did appear safe.

We checked in early but were informed by the friendly receptionist to collect our room key after 3pm, which suited us. Blackpool is a short tram ride away and the stop is opposite the hotel.

Having spent the afternoon in a relative busy but cold Blackpool we returned to the Hotel to collect our key and view our room. It was very small with a 3/4 bed, but as it was only for one night we were happy to put up with it as it was clean and although on the side of the hotel we had a sea view.

Having booked our evening meal for 8pm we made our way to the elegant dining room only to be told to wait in the bar until our table was ready. The meal itself was summed up by my wife when she remarked it was like school dinner. The free wine was a British sweet wine not really to our palate.

After dinner we entered the beautiful domed ballroom, there were tables for ten with odd couples dotted at each one, nobody really mixing together. The entertainment consisted of an organist/singer who doubled up as a bingo caller. This was not really our scene so we went into the hotel bar.

The next morning our breakfast was OK although there was a long queue at the self service bar for Full English.

Overall the price paid was good value for money and it gave me the opertunity of staying in one of the large sea front hotels I dreamt of entering as I child and if a simular offer arises again I will take it. Only I will bring the wine home and give it to someone as a present.
