“Really disappointed”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

This is a hotel which needs updating. The exterior and even the public areas look ok- except for the strange appearance of hand sanitisors all over the place. Never seen that in a hotel before and it made me think that perhaps there was an issue of infection control, like in hospital? But the facade hides the problem - the bedrooms. We booked high floor, non-smoking, seaview, twin. We got first floor, smoking, wall view through dirty frosted glass but they got the twin bit right. Room 179 is shocking -do not accept it! It is the most awful hotel space (I cannot call it a room) I have ever seen. I don't know how they have the cheek to take money for it. The reception staff had a meeting on what to do with me and my daughter in private. We were given a better room which was high floor, non-smoking, lovely sea view but double. That didn't matter too much though. But if this was a superior room, it wasn't really that good. Stained carpet, stained lino in bathroom, strange growth on toilet seat, damp on window alcove ceiling, shockingly cheap pillow which meant we had to use our clothes to sleep on. The half empty bottle of wine we found in the otherwise empty wardrobe made us question the housekeeping standards.

The good things- staff were extremely nice and helpful particularly in the restaurant and behind the bar. Breakfast and 3 course dinner included was good with decent veggie option. Fantastic seafront location, away from the crowds but trams and buses right outside. Ample free parking. Loved the jaccuzi bath.

Can't get over the fact that whole floors in the hotel seem to be smoking! What a health and safety hazard! Unfortunately, we won't be staying there again.

Room Tip: Don't go in room 179. Room 308 was somewhat better. Insist on seaview or else you will have no v...

Just returned from a bank holiday break with my elderly parents, the rooms are in desperate need of refurbishment worn carpets torn furniture etc. However saying that even though run down the room was clean and we had a good view the breakfast was ok, on balance what you would expect from a hotel chain. The staff were friendly and the bar area was pleasant to sit in. We did get a lot of noise on saturday night but thats what you expect on a bank holiday weekend in blackpool even in the supposedly quieter North Shore. Just be prepared to expect budget hotel at a budget price.. If you are travelling with elderly/disabled the lift is only small and be prepared to wait.

Room Tip: first and second floors seem to have the better rooms ask for a sea view otherwise inside rooms view...

My friend and I have just returned from a Saturday night spent in a twin room at the Savoy. We weren't disappointed. The room was spacious, with a table and two chairs providing a bit of a living room area and a large bathroom with bath/shower. We spent £50 on the room for the night and both thought it was better value for money than a standard Travelodge-type room. The environment was clean and tidy. The only issues were that the lift didn't go up to the third floor, and the curtains let in lots of daylight. For our purposes, the room provided good value for money and was a decent base for a day and night out in Blackpool. Buffet breakfast was average, with full english and continental options. Tram was £2 each way to the Tower, and taxi was around a fiver. Will stay again.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 328.

Arrived on Thursday 22nd may and the first impressions was dark and dingy. The room was small and in need of a good clean. The furnishings where old ,bed was uncomfortable with poor quality bedlinen. The bathroom was dirty as was the toilet. The bath had dirty marks on the inside and the tiles surrounding where uneven and didn't match the rest.
Breakfast and evening meal was included in the price both where of poor quality and very disappointing.
We will not be staying here again.

arrived on Friday16th May at 19-00 with my brother and 2 friends as we were in blackpool for the annual RAFA conference. The check in staff were very profesional explaining timings for breakfast bar opening and even tram times and stops. The room my brother and I occupied was clean, 2 x double beds and a set of bunks, plenty of towels left in the room the bath room was clean and more towels and several bottles of shampoo and shower gel in there. Ok the TV was dated but all we watched was the news in the morning the beds were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was self serve and plenty of it we had an evening meal and at £12.50 for 3 courses it was good value and enjoyable. The room was cleaned on the Saturday bin emptied new towels etc. The staff were great very friendly helpful and above all very courtious. In all a good expierience remember at £30.00 per person it was good value. I have traveled all over the world and stayed in major chain hotels that are supposed to be 4/5 star and had worse rooms and service. We will use tbe Savoy again. I will also say its so easy to complain and give a poor outlook, people that have had a good time should take a short time to give a good review it may give you a good felling to praise something.

A absolutely astounding room for the price paid. Yes, there were problems, the hotel is in dire need of an update and the furnishings in the room were old, tired and either worn, stained or torn but I would just suggest you look at the photo's I have attached. Make up your own mind.

Breakfast, which was included, left a huge amount to be desired. Packed in like sardines, with staff who literally had no idea what to do. Arguing amongst themselves in front of guests is a big no-no in whatever star hotel it is. Wash your dirty laundry in private. Buffet on offer was disappointing to say the least. Granted, when I went up it was clear that some trays were due to be refreshed, but maybe a little more time and effort put into this would be appreciated. The notice to let you know that plates would be hot was an understatement. One of these days, someone will burn themselves quite badly. Asbestos gloves are needed. I have never seen a plate melt cheese after I have finished what was on it. Literally, and I am not joking...

All in all, a hotel in dire need of an update, but for the price paid, the room was astounding.

Room Tip: We had The President Suite.

My 3 friends arrived at the savoy on Monday 12.05.14 3 ladies 2 x 80+ and one lady 90+, the rooms were a disgrace and the food was horrible, the food was self service which is difficult when also having a walking stick and not one member of staff offered to help. they say everything was dirty and no one came in to their rooms at all to tidy up or make the beds for them. On booking they were told there was entertainment, but there wasnt any. Needless to say these ladies will NOT be returning to this hovel!

Room Tip: Find another hotel!
