“Not happy to say the least”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

Organised by latebookings a family trip for 6 nights, to say the least we were disappointed. 3 rooms we had which 2 were satisfactory but one room had found a pizza box with contents under bed, took to reception only for them to take off us and a sorry, nothing else. Rest time the room seemed clean enough until the day before we were leaving they had left us with one towel, toilet roll and bed not made, when asking at reception when the cleaning would be done in our room, they said they would chase up. Thinking it would be done we went out and once arrived back still not done. Also they will need to update their web page as this is misleading, reception area etc is nothing/nowhere near as the professional pictures posted. Only good things were the breakfast buffet which was edible and the tram and bus stop just outside hotel. I would not recommend to anyone to stay more than a couple of days.

Room Tip: Behind reception rooms starting with 40 plus are ok

Just returned from two nights half board. On arrival we were met by helpful staff who told us our room was ready early. Yes the rooms are dated but clean comfy and functional. All the meals are buffet style, we were given a time option for evening meal and had no wait on either night. Again the menu had good options and being buffet style you won,t starve, with food fresh tasty and plentiful. For the price paid the Norbreck is great value, with no complaints from us.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for sea view.

Stayed 1 night as a stop over. Was a fair way out of blackpool centre but tram stops outside the hotel. Definitely needs an upgrade but the room we got was basic and old fashioned but clean which was most important. Signs of renovation going on. Bed was comfy and I slept like a log. Plenty of hot water for shower and clean towels so overall worth what we paid through late rooms though I wouldn't have been happy to pay more than we did.

Stayed there for one night on Saturday 5th August, 2014 with three members of my family as part of an organised bus tour, and unfortunately have to say that it was definitely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The hotel was probably a good hotel about thirty years ago, which looks like when it was last decorated, but is now extremely run down and shabby. The dining room in particular was dark, dismal and like a huge canteen, the food was at best unappetising, and we had to swap seats from other tables both at dinner and at breakfast, as, on both occasions we had seats at our table which were covered in food and crumbs. When we were going down to breakfast we had to pass what at first looked like vomit, in the corridor outside one of the rooms, it turned out to be coleslaw I think - (didn't want to look to closely) which, when we returned to our rooms after breakfast, still had not been cleaned up. The only good things I can say, were that our beds were clean and comfortable, and we had nice sea views. As I said we stayed
there as part of an organised bus tour, and that was the hotel allocated to us, however I would
strongly advise anyone travelling independently to give the Norbreck Castle Hotel a body swerve.

Back in the day this was probably a once-proud and premier establishment but now it's looking old and tired, quite shabby in many places.

I attended a gaming weekend over the bank holiday and the venue is easy to find: the tram service stops right outside and the building is castle-shaped with parapets. Organisation was pretty good - signs up showed the way - but this was probably more conference organisers than hotel staff.

I didn't stay the night, but did visit a friend's room, located on the building front so had nice views out over the sea. I thought the room quite cramped and hot - there wasn't much space once a double bed had been fitted and although the radiators were off, unclad thick hot water pipes lost plenty of heat into the room. I didn't think it represented value for money when I heard what they'd been charged.

The overall place looks pretty shabby - it was probably quite nice back in its heyday, but the traditional décor now looks old and tired, as though it's limping on unmaintained until it finally falls down dead. Poor management of the place showed in other areas: the conference facilities weren't geared up for the quantity of people expected, meaning long queues at the bar for drinks and meals, so we headed into the hotel bar instead. Drinks were okay but slightly pricey, and the meal hatch served microwaved burgers that were rubbery and tasteless - you're better off heading out the back towards the nearby shops for a meal. The toilets stank part-way through the first day and by the second they were pretty unbearable - there was no evidence of any cleaners working at all during the entire bank holiday weekend.

I'm looking forwards to returning for the gaming session but I don't feel the staff (or facilities) coped particularly well with the attendance figures encountered that weekend.

We have twice stayed at this hotel, the room was basic but very clean, the food was very good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The Norbreck is in need of some TLC, but we would not hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: an external room is much better.

Spent seven days 14th-21st June, although its a really big hotel, everything ran smoothly and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The room was clean as was the bed Linen plenty of tea coffee ect in your room if you wanted more you only had to ask.
while we were there 800 people booked in for a pool competition lasting from Thursday till Sunday. The staff handled the extra guests calmly and very professional
there has been a lot of bad reviews for this Hotel,my friend and I can honestly say we had nothing to complain about, the food and evening entertainment were very good and we really enjoyed our stay.while we were there we booked another break in Llandudno at the Grand Hotel part of the Britanina chain if its as good as The Norbrek we'll be well pleased.

Room Tip: too many rooms to make a choice
