After looking at the lovely marketing photos on their site & others, we chose this hotel for our party of 4 Adults & 4 Children. After booking in we discovered what a shabby mess this hotel is! The revolving doors on entry were opaque with muck & fingerprints...Tired, unclean and not as advertised. Advertised services were unavailable, swimming pool times conflicting with breakfast...amusment arcades shut. Basic dated rooms which were untouched by a duster in months! Drawers and wardrobes filthy with things left in them...the beds had no valance/ throws/ flowers/ fruit (as advertised), Torn curtains, sheet with holes, the handles hung off the drawers, the light shade hanging off the walls, toilets unclean & stained...someones hair on the bath towels...not ours! Smelly rooms with filthy sticky carpets. The food was stewed and tasteless. The only point worth reviewing well was that some of the staff members were very pleasent & helpful....Never again at this hotel....Advertising Standards would be all over this one!!!

Room Tip: Book at a different hotel

Stayed at the Norbreck for 4 nights with my 7 year old in July. Place was full of gypsies at the time who let their kids run wild. Breakfast very poor...dinner average. Pool was clean and nice. No air condition in our room which was almost unbearable during a heatwave. Nice views over the beach at night and all staff we encountered were pleasant enough. Decor absolutey dire...looked like the Haunted Mansion from Disneyland inside.
Levels of cleanliness around hotel were bad but our room was clean as was our beding and the jacuzzi bath was a great bonus.
I would only stay here again if there was absolutely nowhere else available.

Room Tip: Our room was a twin it was fine except for being very hot

Just had a very bad & upsetting experience. Needed a quiet short break due to ill health!! I am now more in need of one. Rooms badly in need of a good clean, unhelpful staff on reception& a ridiculously long wait to book in. 1 hour 25 minutes & only 7 parties to book in before me.

What an awful hotel. The rooms were very dated, not very clean and dust everywhere. The curtains looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in years! The curtains in the family room were dirty and torn! Our room wasn't exactly en suite the sink was in the bedroom and there was dust everywhere plus my pillow smelled of stale tobacco - supposed to be a non smoking room. Also the kettle and cups were full of dust. Some of the corridors smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke. The public areas in the hotel such as the reception area, the lift, the corridors were littered with empty cans and sweet wrappers. The ceiling spot lights in the reception area were hanging from the ceiling and the leather settees had seen better days. The food wasn't very good either. Beans on toast, toast or cereal were probably the best choice. The only clean area was the swimming pool. The cleaners had placed the clean sheets and towels on the floors of the corridors ready for changing the rooms, not very hygienic as the carpets needed a good clean.

Room Tip: Unsure as to where there might be a good room. We were on 5th floor and could here the noise from t...

The only reason that we booked the Norbreck was because my niece was getting married there, she had booked the full wedding package so we thought that we might as well stay there too.
I'll try to make this review as full as I can without straying off the point.
The good points.
.The food...all things considered very good.
Breakfast, if you go before 0815 then there is no queue but after that it can get a bit busy. They only put scrambled eggs on the hot plate but you can ask for poached and it is no problem to them and they will bring them to your table. The breakfast itself is buffet style so its help yourself to what ever you want without limit.
Evening meal...again buffet style and of a very good quality, they have three sittings from 1900 onwards so there is no problem getting a table or waiting in a queue.
The restaurant staff are clean, attentive and polite, nothing is to much bother for them.
Wedding venue....My niece dressed the tables herself to keep the cost down but the staff and the food where excellent, especially the buffet laid on later in the evening.

Reception...we paid the extra for an early check in so there was no problems there, again the reception staff are polite, attentive and thorough.
Swimming pool and gym, immaculately clean, well cared for equipment but the changing rooms could do with an update.

So they where the good points, not many but at least the place had some.

The bad points.......
We had booked an executive room (room 810, strangely on the first floor) thinking that we might as well splash out for the wedding. We where shocked at the size of it, with the double bed it left about 2ft floor space, we had a single window that overlooked the loading bay plus a maze of pipes and an enormous amount of litter. I went straight back down to the reception to complain and to ask how they could possibly describe this as an executive room, their answer was that it had a jacuzzi in it, yippee. Anyway at no extra cost they moved us to a sea view room (540) that was twice the size plus they gave us free access to the gym and pool for the length of our stay as a good will gesture. Well done the reception staff. Complain if your not happy).
The first impression ....the first thing that you see as you pull into the large car park (800 spaces) is the state of the building, shabby and huge. It looks as if the builders had taken the design from blue prints provided by communist Russia, the grounds are covered in litter. An old disused petrol station forecourt covers one end the rest is landscaped with about four tatty bushes and a bit of grass.
The entrance is covered with old cigarette butts and more litter, the reception area is old fashioned but cleanish. Go through to the dining area and again it is very outdated but clean.
The bar area is dirty with glasses and empty crisp packets laying on the tables and floor and was like that for the four days of our stay, we had to actually ask one of the bar staff to clear and clean a table so that we could sit down and with a lot of ill grace and a very wet cloth decided in his own time to do so. I mean they had three members of staff behind the bar and no customers in front of it, not rocket science guys is it?
The stage area and dance floor don't look as if they have been decorated since Noah was a lad and again could do with a damn good clean.
Prices of the drinks is quite high, a pint of bitter and a small bottle of water came to £5.25 and seemed to get more expensive as the night wore on, that is unless you showed the bar staff a receipt from earlier in the evening and then it amazingly fell again.
Location...about four miles from the Central Pier but trams and buses run a regular service along the front at about £2.50 per person, by the way pensioners bus passes are invalid for Blackpool transport. You can buy day or week family tickets that do save a pound or two but not by much.

Overall impression, not a great place but of about average standard for Blackpool. The hotel needs a massive referb' and the bar staff could do with a good shake too. Would I stay there again, no For the same price I would use the Hilton and its within easy walking distance to town.

Room Tip: Select a sea view, everything else is just to depressing.
