“"Never ever stay at this hotel"”
Reviewed 8 August 2014

Can not believe how bad this hotel is ........We complained about the room we were given as it had not been cleaned . And it took over five hours for them to do this , and then we had to complain because items had been stolen , we were told by the manager that it was not the hotels problem and to phone the police ...... The staff are rude , the manager is worse he could not care less if he tried we booked a double room which apart from being filthy was tiny the door could not open fully as it hit the bed. We also had a twin room and although this was big enough it was filthy and it smelt so bad we brought carpet freshened and air freshened never before have we had to do this . Can not believe a hotel of this size with all the great facilities could be run so bad ......... It could be a really good hotel if managed right such a shame .

We stayed at the norbreck for one night, and that was more than enough, the room we were given was disgusting, smelly, dirty and damp on the walls, and not enough room to swing a cat (wouldn't even want to let my cat stay there). The staff weren't much better, not helpful atall. Think the hotel inspector Would have a field day at this hotel ( though doubt she would want to spend a night there). It's not fit for purpose, it's awful, would recommend you think twice before booking to stay at the norbreck .

my wife and i have just been to the norbreck castle for the umpteenth time. this time to see the brilliant mamma mia musical. as usual we read the reviews. as on all our other visits we have never had a problem. so i don:t know were all these complaints come from we have found all the staff friendly and helpful maybe some customers have an attitude problem. or maybe we are a nation of moaners. so keep up the good work norbreck we will definitely be back.

We stayed in this hotel on a half board basis for 1 night on August 6th, with friends, 2 couples and 4 children aged 10, 12,14 and 15. After reading the reviews on here to be honest I was expecting the worse, but it has to be said I was pleasantly surprised!
Yes it's definitely not the Ritz and is jn serious need of a massive refurbishment but for the money we paid (£90) for a massive family room for 4, that had 1 double and 3 singles in, and breakfast and evening meal, it was ok.
The food is varied on a buffet style basis and was hot and tasty, with service quick and efficient. I've definitely had worse.
The Hotel on the whole is clean apart from the outside area which could do with tidying up and cigarette butts picking up on a regular basis.
Admittedly it is very tired , and needs a lot of money spending on it, wallpaper peeling of walks, carpets worn furniture bumped and scratched but again if you are not expecting a 4 star and prepared to overlook the cosmetics then it's fine for an overnight stay.
For the time we spent in the hotel our children were amused with the cinema and swimming pool ( there is a charge of £2 for over 12's) and there were lots of other families there.
So if you are on a quick trip to Blackpool and not intending on spending the whole time in the hotel I would say it's well worth the money, we stayed in room 260 which was enormous. Don't expect a 4 star hotel and be prepared to overlook the decor and shabbiness but it's clean, the food is ok and the staff are all helpful, polite and welcoming.

Our first impression from the outside of the hotel was that it looked pretty run down. Then upon entering our opinion stayed the same throughout the hotel. We got to our room and the decor was fine and we were pleased with the cleanliness. One of the reasons I booked the hotel was because of the cabaret entertainment they offered. We were told it would start at 10 after the childrens entertainment and that the children would leave at that time, however the childrens entertainment went on until about 11 and then we were left disappointed as there was no cabaret for the adults and there were children running about everywhere. We slept well in our room. Breakfast was awful, I didn't eat much as it made me feel a bit queasy. There was no organisation at breakfast. It was like feeding time at the zoo!

I complained about the room we were staying in. Human poo on the towels. When ordered new towels there was hair all over them! Room was like a box. Hole in the wall.noise until 3:30am!! Went down to speak to a manager who had a go at me. Went to reception at night time i was called a liar by 3 staff. The manager Stewart went to hit me!! He spoke to me with lack of respect then the receptionist Lauren was being cocky and then the housekeeper Charlotte was being rude!! I want a refund I will be contacting environmental health about this

Stayed one night 2nd August with my wife.... This was her birthday treat hope she forgives me.
Arrived by coach and my first impression was is this a prison....... Queued up at reception like cattle. The whole place is absolutely filthy from reception up to our room 133 it didn't get any better. The room is dirty, decor I have seen better in a derelict house, think dust all over very noticeable on the telly. The bathroom well an absolute disgrace, grouting dirty, bath stained, brown stain in bottom of toilet bowl. Phone hanging off the wall. Contacted reception for an iron none available, reception staff extremely rude.
The restaurant, waiter brought over a bowl of cream coloured liquid supposed to be chicken soup. Self service main course all I can say, hospital food better. Breakfast is made up of the cheapest fattiest bacon, deep fried sausages looked like the cheapest you can buy disgusting settled for toast in the end.
Hotel was full of kids laying about all over, empty cans of pop, pizza boxes and some guests eating fish and chips in the reception area from chip shop.
This is the second time I have stayed in a Britannia Hotel and they don't get better just worse, this is beyond repair should be pulled down.
Up early Sunday one would expect to see housekeeping staff cleaning reception area oh no all the night be forces crap still on the floor.
The hotel was not chosen as it was part of a package to see Mama Mia.
Will never stay in any Britannia Hotels ever.
