“Should do better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 May 2014

This is a Hilton Hotel so it should behave like one. First of all I was not recognised as an hhonors member, the 'free' wifi did not work as it did not accept my room number and name combination. Didn't have time to follow this up. I shouldn't have had to.
They insisted on taking the full room charge for my 2 night stay from my Amex card as soon as I checked in. Fair enough I thought, until I tried to charge a drink at the hotel bar to my room. They refused because my card had not been pre-authorised for additional charges. They wanted cash only. What?!
Apparently reception are only supposed to charge your card for the full stay when you check in if you do not have a reservation or pay with a debit card.
My colleague who is also a gold hhonors member received a free drink voucher on check in. I didn't.
This Hilton also does not provide face cloths/flannels. Just a bug bear but still annoying.
This Hilton needs to improve to deserve the Hilton name in my opinion.

Hotel ok, rooms are very dated. and small. We had no air-con and the window was screwed shut? Reception and breakfast was great and these areas have been done up as have the bar and restaurant. Even hotel sign was broken.

Room Tip: All day tram pass. Hotel is away from all the big attractions.

It seems that this hotel is getting really mixed reviews, so I can only state the experience that I had when I stayed there, we stayed in a suite on the fifth floor and the room exceeded expectations, large bed, dining area for six, lounge area with two settees and recliner in it, TVs in both bedroom and lounge, large bath with separate shower cubicle, true, parts of the room could do with a bit of tlc but it did not spoil my enjoyment of the facilities in any way, we did not eat in the restaurant ( apart from breakfast, which was excellent), but had a couple of bar meals, they were relatively expensive but on all occasions the food was of a decent standard, ALL the staff that I came into contact with, and dealt with during were both very friendly and efficient, in my opinion some of the nicest staff I have met in a while, would I stay there again undoubtedly, does some of the hotel need a bit of money spent on it, most probably, but as I have said I enjoyed my stay and will use this hotel again.

an ideal hotel, situated out side the "popular" area of the sea front. Therefore not affected by the activities of the "golden mile". Whilst blackpool suffers from its popularity with daytrippers it is possible to enjoy a quieter break, as older persons, without too much interference from unwelcome "others".

We were lucky to be upgraded to a suite, which is without doubt, excellent value for money. The room service was good and they really really try to do their best. The staff are lovely but the hotel was busy and they couldn't cope at reception. The lifts weren't all working at once which caused delays. I had to ask for my Hilton honors on-site benefits, which were barely worth asking for.

I have to say, I believe this is a great choice for Blackpool but remember it is still Blackpool and don't expect too much. The standard rooms are very standard.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade, pay the extra and have your breakfast in bed! Don't risk having to wait in...

i've stayed in this hotel previously and thought it was brilliant. afterall blackpool hotels on the whole are very tacky! this stay went from bad to worse... the staff being very freindly and the food and drink being amazing its just the quality of the hotel is very aged and on the whole rooms seem very dirty. i also had problems with things i'd pay'd for before arriving and not recieveing, which ment having to complain to get results which is'nt my style.

We have stayed here a few times, we were back for a night in March. The standard rooms could do with a little work being done to them, when you book they are trying to get you to upgrade to something better. But the standard is OK for one night.

We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel and could not fault it, the desserts are excellent.

I think it is a bit cheap taking a £5 charge for parking in the hotel car park, I don't know what that is all about. So if you get a quote of £98, add another £5 to bring it up to £103. I think this is out of order, by all means charge £5 to visitors, but not to paying guests. Pathetic.

Room Tip: Keep a £5 note handy, you will be charged this per day for parking your car.
