“AVOID! mediocre, don't bother paying the premium for the name”
Reviewed 24 April 2007

I'm a Hilton HHONORS Gold member having stayed in Hilton Blackpool for 5 weeks (M-F) and I consider it one of the worst places I have stayed in.

Rude staff, food is of terrible quality and quantity (unless you get the buffet, which is terrible in quality) incompetence is the common theme amongst the staff.

Charging a premium for a mediocre and poor service is abysmal, the staff consider the customer as a hindrance to their chatting efforts. took us 30 mins at breakfast for the staff to acknowledge our existence (group of 8 people) to simply offer tea or coffee.

£28 for dinner (small piece of fish and some very dry microwaved rice) is just clear ripoff.

Complains to management went unanswered, overcharging us for the rooms by 120% over the agreed price was the norm every week of the stay, lost bookings, cancelled bookings all sorts of things you would expect hotel staff to encounter every day were a major challenge in dealing with reception, in true customer service style, it's always the customers' fault.

Poor show, shame on Hilton, all staff should be fired and the place start from fresh.

The rooms are ok, but not worth the money we paid.

Don't bother, don't let the Hilton name fool you.

Spent weekend in Blackpool and enjoyed stay at Hilton, good entertasinment offered in the evening, the rooms clean, modern and spacious.
Restaurant overpriced and buffet selection was poor although thats the only negative thing have to say about this hotel.

Bus and tram stops outside for a quick ride into town.

  • Liked — Good Rooms with Seaview
  • Disliked — Restaurant being very expensive for a poor buffet choice

Went to Blackpool for a relaxing trip over the Easter weekend.
Stayed from the 5th April to the 8th April.

We booked online, and called the hotel to make sure our booking had been received. While on the phone we explained that it was a special occasion and asked if there was any chance of getting a room with a nice view etc.
The lady on the phone was very friendly and helpful.

When we arrived at the hotel the check in was very quick and helpful. We received a dinner on the first night, breakfast every morning of our stay and also a dinner on the last night at no extra cost.

The room itself was lovely, very neat and clean and well looked after.
There was a radio and TV, lots of room for us to relax.
The view from our room was fantastic, we were on the 7th floor (never had any problems with the lifts) and could see the sea, beach, and even the Pepsi max on south shore!!

The food was to die for…!
It was so wonderful that we ended up having to go to the room and chill for a while we’d stuffed our faces so much.
The chefs were lovely as were the waiters and waitresses.

Reception was lovely too, very helpful.

Overall the break was amazing and I can’t wait to go back, I recommend this hotel to everyone… :)

I stay regularly at the Hilton on business. It is one of only three or four three-star hotels in Blackpool, which says a great deal. Essentially it is a very standard three-star business hotel, certainly no higher. Most rooms have a diagonal view of the sea; a few at the back, with no sea view, are larger family rooms. The hotel has recently been refurbished, and that was certainly overdue; rooms (which are modestly sized by current standards) are still not air conditioned, but that is not normally a consideration in Blackpool weather! There can be occasional wind noise during the gales which hit this coast (and sometimes require emergency closure of the automatic front doors); on one recent visit the doors were failing to shut, with the result that 80 m.p.h winds were roaring through the lobby and up the stairs into the restaurant. The first-floor bar-lounge area is large and comfortably furnished, though the large-screen television broadcasts are pervasive. The restaurant is best avoided: the buffet can get tired at the end of the evening and the unvarying a la carte menu has a 1960s feel, like much of the Blackpool offer; breakfast service, provided by an international labour force (a reflection, alas, on the quality of the local offer) is too often well below Hilton professional standards. Overall: very average, buit that - alas - is about as good as Blackpool gets nowadays.

Good seafront location, friendly staff, lovely clean rooms and wonderful food in Restaurant & Bar.

Defiantly worth paying a little extra for.
