“great family place”
Reviewed 9 April 2007

Myself, my husband and my 2 children aged 11 and 2 stayed here for easter break for 3 nights. What can I say, what an excellent family hotel this is. Ideally situated between the south and central pier (on the prom) it offered everything I could want for a short break. Breakfast was buffet style so you could help yourself as much as you wanted and the food was hot. There was ample cereal, fruit juice, toast and as much tea and coffee as needed. After you had been out all day you came back to the best welcome. The lounge/bar area catered for the adult and the children as the owners are great family people and love to include the kids in their topics of conversation. I would definately recommend this place for it's warm and relaxing atmosphere.

The only downside was the beds were a bit uncomfortable but after a day walking in the fresh air you'll sleep on anything.

I have just returned from a thoroughly enjoyable 3 night stay with my family at the South Beach Hotel. The rooms were newly decorated and there was plenty of storage space for all our needs. The service was excellent, with a very friendly atmosphere. I would recommend a trip to this hotel to anybody!

We have just returned from our stay at the South Beach hotel, Blackpool and we found it to be very enjoyable, the staff were very freindly. They made you feel very welcome, as though you were part of the family. The rooms were spacious and very clean and tidy.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the South Beach Hotel, and would suggest it to anyone who is looking to have a break, or holiday sometime in Blackpool.

After seeing the good reviews on here, we booked a weekend 3 night stay for £75 each. 4 of us went. The hotel is located in a good spot, right on the sea front, about 15 mins to pleasure beach and 45 to tower. Car parking is outside.

The rooms are small, and have views of, well, other windows in the building nextdoor. Bathroom was very small, long but narrow. Had an old avacado green sink and loo, and a small shower cubicle. The room was clean-ish - there was make up on the walls around the mirror, the handle was broken on the chest of drawers, and while the bed sheets were washed, they had black stains on them on the one side.

We only got 1 towel each, no hand towel, and only 3 pillows (what if you want 2 each?). In the bathroom you had a paper mat on the floor to stand on when getting out of the shower, and soap/shampoo etc. were the usual cheapie hotel packaged ones. The sink was a bit loose, i.e. away from the wall and wobbled if you held it. The shaver light above didnt work.

You also had a tv up on the wall, with 3 watchable channels, the rest were too fuzzy. A small kettle, 2 paper cups, and tea and coffee. Well i think it was coffee, it said coffee on the packet but it didnt taste like coffee. Downstairs was a good sized bar, a small games room with pool table, fruit machines etc.

The owners were very friendly. Breakfast was buffet style, cereals, fruit juice, full english available, though the staff working there are foreign and the service can sometimes be slow/difficult -i.e. they dont speak to you much or tell you what to do on your first visit there. However, the food was very nice.

Overall.... if you are on a budget, its a good basic hotel. I have stayed in worse in Blackpool, then again I have stayed in better. The hotel could be a lot better if they : provide proper coffee sachets in the rooms (Nescafe), have a hand towel in the rooms, make sure the walls are clean before new people go in there, provide a decent bathroom mat rather than a cheap paper one, just tidy up a few things, like making sure bulbs work in the bathroom etc. I will say however that the room cleaning maid service when we were out was very good, the room was tidied and was clean when we returned.

They were all minor things however, things you wouldnt go and complain to reception about, and I would stay there again, howvever, I cant give it more than a 3/5 rating just on the basis that it is a basic hotel, which could be a lot better and has potential to do so.

Me and my other half went for 3 nights. It was comfortable clean and had a friendly environment. Its seconds away from the main pier and south pier and only a few minutes walk to blackpool tower or pleasure beach! I would recomend it to anyone
