“Trip away ruined”
Reviewed 4 July 2014

I would certainly not recommend this hotel to anyone. We stood in the hallway for 5 minutes, no bell or staff around eventually we had to ring the door bell to get somebodies attention. The room was tiny with a double bunk bed!! There was also a sink and a wardrobe. The toilet was at one end of the floor and the shower at the opposite end, both of which you could barely swing a cat in. Definitely not what I was expecting. There was also bird poo on the window, dodgy paintwork everywhere, loose locks on the doors and an unclean shower. There was a makeshift bar down in the basement, which was possibly the best thing about the place. Breakfast wasn't the best, the toast had clearly been sitting out for a while due to how hard it was.

Room Tip: Try a different hotel, there is a travel lodge right next to the pleasure beach.

Hi. 20florida14 (cant give us your name?) Where do we start? o.k You said you stood for 5 minutes with on bell. But then there was a bell you rang. You booked the standard room not me. How big do you want a toilet or shower to be. (O we don't let cats in) As for bird poo we do live at the seaside with lots of seabirds (I will see if I can get the bird that did it) As for the so called makeshift bar where are you coming from? If you think you can stay at the travel lodge for £20.00 for 2 of you with breakfast I dont think so. if you would like to talk you can ring us on 01253 623909. we ask all that stay if you are not happy tell us and we would see if we can put thinks right.
all the best to you martyn and Sharon

We Stayed 3 nights and wish we could have stayed a lot longer, we were made very welcome from the moment we arrived. The room was clean, tidy and comfortable, Breakfast was good with plenty to choose from. The atmosphere of the bar/dinning area was great with plenty of entertainment. As for Sharon, Martyn and the staff they were fantastic throughout our stay, they were warm and friendly and nothing was ever to much trouble, they catered our needs perfectly, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return.

We returned to the Jesmond last week for 5 nights having stayed there in October last year. We were a party of 6 with a 3 year old. I was delighted to see there had been no changes - in terms of the warm welcome and value for money.

Martyn and Sharon are excellent hosts and looked after us all very well we couldn't have wanted for more. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The rooms are clean, the bedding is clean and the breakfasts are just what we needed to set us up for the day.

They ensured that my mum and dad who are in their 80's had the downstairs bedroom which made it much easier for them. Unfortunately they had a nasty fall in one of the town's stores and it was very kind of Martyn to drive two of our party to the hospital to follow the ambulance to save us having the added distress of trying to find the hospital ourselves.

Its disappointing to read some of the unnecessarily unkind reviews on here from people who obviously expect 5 star luxury accommodation but don't want to pay for it. The Jesmond is ideally located and has everything you need.

The only criticism...... the flipping seagulls who persisted in squabbling outside our window early morning - noisy little buggers! :) In the end it didn't matter that much as I can usually sleep through anything!

We would have no hesitation in recommending the Jesmond and will be returning.

Thank you Martyn and Sharon for making our stay such a pleasant experience.

Room Tip: Pick a room on the road side, quieter in the week to avoid the noisy seagulls.

Stayed here 2 week ago. It's been a good stay clean rooms, nice comfy double bed.. The let downs we're we wanted an ensuite like we ordered but didn't get put in it but overall I was happy with the family room. Another one is, I found a hair in my food short and black and now I had blonde so I knew it wasn't mind, nice breakfast just advice to wear hair net :) another one was, there was to much loud knocking going on in the room next door at 6am in the morning, wasn't happy one morning over the 3 night stay! Overall result I would come again but only a night one

It's so cheap we didn't expect much because for £20 for a double room you'd expect to be staying in a shed! We were early checking in and the owner moved his own car so we could park there to save us money parking in town all day! Fantastic customer service displayed there! When we returned to the hotel after a day at the Pleasure Beach and in town we were given our keys and went up to see the room. It's a fairly simple set up, spacious double bed with clean linen on, TV in the room which was a little faulty but we didn't come to watch TV, a desk with a kettle tea and coffee etc on it and a sink. Everything was clean and although basic it was quite quaint!
The toilet and the shower were clean and just a few doors away and we didn't have to queue or wait for either at all.
After a good nights sleep we went down for breakfast (9.00-9.30am), we went down literally just before half past which we thought may be a bit late but no we were welcomed and cooked a lovely full English with a cup of tea and a glass of orange! Couldn't ask for more from a breakfast, we even got extra toast and a selection of jams! The breakfast would have been a minimum of £5 each anywhere else and we were shocked at how good it was.

Really for £20 this is such a bargain, it's lovely and the staff are all very friendly and will go above and beyond for you! The location is excellent as well, literally a stones throw away from the town centre.
Would recommend to anyone and we'll be going back if we have a little getaway in Blackpool again!

We were a group of 14 on a stag weekends and we were very happy with the hotel. The staff were great, very friendly and helpful, the full English breakfast was also excellent. The rooms were fine for the price and the bedding was clean. A few mattress were past their best but that's my only negative. I would certainly go back. Perfect place for groups or anyone on a budget. The hotel bar is good to!

Having been messed around by a hotel nearby we were offered this hotel from Booking.com instead. The hotel rang me to make sure we were made aware that they have a bar and karaoke - which actually made it better!

We arrived and were shown to the rooms, have to be honest, not the nicest rooms, very dated and there was a leak coming from the room above, then the toilet started leak... BUT they were really apologetic, and quick to react to them. The room was clean, having read the last review we did a thorough check for hairs, and thankfully didn't find any :-)

The staff couldn't do enough for us, and were so friendly and helpful, the bar was well stocked and we had lots of fun doing karaoke after going out into town for a bit. There were two stag parties staying there, which added to the fun even more, this is definitely a hotel to stay in if you want reasonably priced and lots of fun - its not quiet but we were pre-warned of this and it suited us fine. Breakfast was included but we had to go 1st thing, they even offered to open the kitchens early for us, but our hangovers weren't up for any food that early!

Close to town centre and the pier, parking at rear, make sure you ask them too book you a space though, as very limited.

Room Tip: Top floor!
