“Perfect hotel!”
Reviewed 25 August 2013

Well what can I say. Me and my partner stayed here 22nd August after booking late on hotels.com. After reading the reviews on here could see not wait to arrive. We had been to west midlands safari park on the way up for the day. We got stuck in traffic on the M6 but had a great phone call just checking if we were still coming. This was a lovely touch. We arrived at around 8pm to a great warm welcome from the owners. Managed to park just up from the hotel for only £5 for the 24hrs. This was perfect for us.

After a short talk and welcome we were shown our room. It was exactly the room we booked. Yes was small but does say this on booking. Even know it was small there was plenty of space for moving around. The en-suite was a massive plus. Could not fault the cleanliness at all and just like everyone else said the bed was so comfy.

After a good night sleep we headed down for breakfast. We had not booked breakfast as it wasnt an option on our booking, however this wasnt a problem. Nothing seemed to much trouble. We sat down and were given breakfast. The service was amazing.

Would defiantly stay again if in the area as could not ask for more.

Many thanks

stayed here with fiancee and kids and we were very impressed about everything here, the rooms were comfy and beds were excellent comfortable as we had a king size as well, breakfast well there was more than enough to eat and a very good standard i paid £90 for 2 nights that was including the children and i would have happily have paid more, bar prices were excellent as well no need to go out on a night as the hosts were always there and very friendly and mingled with the guests, also in an ideal location for everything the perfect short break keep up the good work at the franklyn we will be back.

Room Tip: we had room 5 not en suite but very good.

Stayed here with a group of friends to celebrate my 30th.

What with organising any trip with a large group there were cancellations and changing dinamics for months right up until we got there, fortunatly the Landlord and landlady were very helpful in regards to staying in constant touch and replying very promptly by email to all of my what seemed to be many enquires.

When we arrived we were shown to our rooms all of which very adequate, a couple of the rooms had en suites which were functionable. Whilst everybody else settled in the landlord kindly drove his car in convey with the Minibus to take us to a coach park a couple of roads away and gave us a lift back to the B&B (he also dropped us off there to pick it up when we were leaving at the end of the weekend) It was a very nice touch for him to litterally go out of his way like that.

We got back to the B&B both nights fairly early but still close to midnight and the Bar in the B&B was still open much to the delight of some of the group. It was a very nice atmosphere in the bar with the Landlord and Landlady holding polite conversation with some pretty inneberated members of our group and even not becoming flustered when a glass of red wine was spilt over an immaculatly laid up table ready for breakfast.

All in all I think everyone of our group enjoyed the stay at the Franklyn Hotel and if we were to visit the delights of Blackpool again would certainly rebook.

After making my booking at the Franklyn I then watched THAT television documentary series about Blackpool - you know the one, it shows all the less attractive elements that the emergency services have to deal with on a daily (and nightly) basis . . . So I was very nervous about what we'd find when we got there and wondered if I'd made a horrible mistake in choosing Blackpool. No worries at all - the hotel is in the North end, and couldn't have been more different to what I had been watching! This is a lovely hotel, with equally lovely owners. I was in Room 2 (small double with small en-suite). The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in (honest!), which made for a really good night's sleep each and every night. The en-suite was indeed small, but perfectly functional. The shower was nice and powerful with plenty of hot water. The hotel is perfectly situated, being just a few minutes' walk from the shops and seafront but also nice and quiet by virtue of being set a few streets back. The weather was quite hot when we were there so the bedroom window had to stay open all the time, but the only noise was from the ever-present seagulls. The road to the front of the property is always very quiet, no problems with traffic noise or rowdy crowds at any time either. The food is excellent - breakfast was a selection of cereals plus orange juice followed by a gorgeous full English breakfast, cooked to perfection, with toast and tea/coffee. Didn't have tea so can't comment, but the coffee was perfect. Do also try Karen's home-made dinners - they are wonderful, just as good as mother used to make! And fantastic value for money as well. I particularly liked the way that you can agree a breakfast time with Karen in advance - she is very accommodating, especially as I like to have a lie-in when I'm on holiday so being able to have breakfast a bit later was very welcome. The hotel was overall extremely welcoming, clean and comfortable. The flat screen TV in the room with full Freeview was very much appreciated, with a huge TV in the bar/lounge/dining room as well. The bar prices were very reasonable, with a choice of two comfy sofas in the bar to relax on and shoot the breeze with Iain and Karen of an evening while enjoying a nightcap or two! There is a small Co-Op about a minute's walk away, which I used every day for general bits & pieces, with a cash machine outside. A few more minutes' walk takes you to a small daily market (well worth a browse), the Tower, pier, amusements, sandy beach, bus & tram stops etc. The trams are frequent, very comfortable and ideal if walking miles isn't your thing. There are loads of leaflets in the hotel if you need inspiration, and Iain got us a money-off deal at Subway (again a couple of minutes' walk away). This is marketed as a "budget" hotel, but to be fair I have stayed at other places twice as expensive but only half as good. Iain and Karen are very modest, but they really did give me a fantastic first holiday in Blackpool. So much so, I can't wait to go again - and the Franklyn will definitely be my first choice! Keep up the extremely good work guys, hope to see you again soon.

Room Tip: Phone the hotel direct - they will bend over backwards to accommodate you. Room 2 at the back was qu...

This holiday was last minute and I wasn't really looking forward to a holiday in Blackpool but kids were. Warm welcome on arrival, room spotless and tastefully decorated with toiletries and fluffy towels added. Tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer and iron and iron board provided. Beds comfortable and bedding like new and lovely and soft. Large TV mounted on wall with freeview. Bar prices are good and the breakfast lovely and very cheap.Shower room you are provided with toiletries to use and was very clean. A lovely bed and breakfast and the owners said 'it is what it is' however I say you get a lovely very clean warm welcome place to eat and sleep and you can see the whole family work hard to make your stay pleasurable. Will be back and will be telling my friends and family about this gem.

Room Tip: This bed and breakfast will not disappoint

Booked The Franklyn online as a spur of the moment night away just me & my son. Was excellent value for money. Had a double bed, shower, sink & toilet, not alot of room but was only there 1 night didnt bother me. My only problem not with the hotel but Blackpool in particular is parking! Was £5 for overnight parking at hotel. The owners was so helpful even parking the car. Hadnt booked breakfast but decided to have some in morning, had unlimited cereals & oj 1 full english with plenty toast and a childs scrambled egg beans & toast for £6!! Cant wait to stay again!
