We went to the new years eve 70s and 80s night. The venue is nice and entertainment was good. The downside being that there are no tables in the balcony, so nowhere to put the drinks. Just a few small tables every few seats would of made a huge difference

Visited the ground floor Bistro just before Christmas with three friends, we were the only people in the place, and we're ignored for 30 minute by the waitress, who was just stood behind the bar, we eventually did get served, the food was excellent, but then the waitress never cleared away the dirty plates so we didn't hang around for dessert or coffee, this member of staff let the venue down. Otherwise it would have got 5 stars

The Sands was full when we arrived last night and we got a good table for the evening, facing the stage.
We had a nice meal which was good considering that we hadn't paid a fortune, which we would have had to pay at other venues.
The group were excellent and by the end of the evening, everyone was up and dancing ready to let in the New Year.
Once again a super atmosphere, with reasonably priced drinks.
We shall be back next New Year I Hope.

we booked sands for the works christmas function. It was 80s night.
we had a lovely girl took the order initially on the phone, very pleasant and helpful.
on arriving at the venue we were greeted at the door and given instruction on where to go. we got out of the lift and again greeted and show to our table, they then took our coats and brought the ticket back to us, the personal touches mean alot.
the 3 course meal was lovely, hot and good value. we paid £35 and the entertainment was very good, the atmosphere was great. all 8 of us cant fault it we will be returning next year.
The wine was very good value for the bottle £15.50 (pino)
thank you sands

We went to sands last night for our works Xmas do and there was just 8 of us. The place is lovely and the layout is very good. Nice toilets etc. However the food was pretty average and typical catering for a mass market. I had garlic mushrooms (which were nice) but you cant go far woring with a few mushrroms on a bit of toast with garlic and butter); Turkey Dinner which was ok; Iced Lemon Parfait was nice. The band were good and got the party going on the second set it was an 80's band. However the big dissapointment was the lack of a DJ. Once the band finished we just had music playing and the party atmosphere diminished rapidly. It would be much better if there was a DJ that entertained you before and after the band to get the mood going and then keep the party going! Not sure we will be returning and from experience I have had a better night at Viva!
