“not the best 4* hotel we have stayed in!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2012

On arrival at the hotel the reception area looked quite palatial, however on arrival in our room our opinions changed.
Very dull and dreary decor, bathroom in serious need of a make=over, taps loose, horrible shower curtain and taps not cleaned on the bath.
Bedroom itself needed more lighting and the view from the obsure window was of rooftops, which were hiding the rubbish bins which were emptied each morning - not the best thing to be woken up by!
Several poor experiences during our stay caused our complaints to the duty manager who gave us a free bottle of wine with our dinner to compensate. However, we were disturbed in the early hours of the next morning by inconsiderate residents partying for a couple of hours in the room next door, so yet again after complaints at the time to reception, we received apologies from the staff who said the hotel manager would contact us!
To date this has not happened, hence this poor review.
We have never given a bad review before and feel that the previous reputation of this hotel needs to be upheld by the current management. Respect to residents is crutial to the reputation of a hotel and feel that some form of compensation/contact should have been made to prevent a report like this. Very sad that a lovely old hotel like this should turn out to resemble Butlins

Room Tip: avoid an internal room

Thank you for your review. I am sorry that you felt let down by the Hotel in that no one has been in contact with you. I can only apologise that you were disturbed by some inconsiderate guests in the next room, we do try to keep noise to a minimum, but quite obviously this was not the case in this instance. I do hope that you will consider staying with us again in the future. Kind regards, Nick Testa, General Manager

The food is well cooked and delicious served by efficient, friendly staff. This 4* hotel is impressive, has good facilities and the room was clean and comfortable. A wonderful weekend break! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Breakfast is buffet style self-service.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view and it's quieter on the 4th floor apparently.

This hotel is in desperate need of a gutting programme. The heating is out of the ark, the decor stuck in the 1980's (the "palm court" restaurant had a couple of bedraggled pot palms to add to the ambience). The staff try their best but it's difficult for them when the place is creaking around them. Given their tariffs, it is woefully overpriced. We ate one night in the dining room and to be fair, it was one up from "dire". The place needs a lot of love and a lot of money - I don't see either are in prospect anytime soon.

Myself and my husband booked into the Imperial Hotel for our Anniversary and had the most enjoyable stay, we were made to feel so special and were even upgraded to the Royal Suite and greeted with a bottle of red wine and a lovely welcome from Leanne, who checked that we were happy with our room. And to top it all off when we went down for dinner, we were greeted with a candlelit dinner, with yet another bottle of wine and the table was decorated beautifully, it really made the evening even more special, and the food was the best we have ever tasted. During our stay we made use of the Health Spa and enjoyed a jacuzzi, steam bath and sauna which relaxed us ready for our stay. We had booked in for breakfast which again the service was impeccable and the food excellent, followed by yet another session in the Health Spa, we both also had the best nights sleep in a long time (having two small children this was very much appreciated, as you can imagine). We would definately recommend this beautiful hotel to all our friends and family and cant wait to visit it again soon. Thanks to all the staff who made our stay so pleasurable, especially, Vicky and Irene.

Room Tip: We were in the Royal Suite, which was perfect, the view was amazing, the room was lovely and warm an...

My first stay at this grand old hotel, courtesy of an annual Rock and Roll event. They did us (250)proud,great service ,friendly staff and the food was pretty good too. This really is a period hotel so dont expect everything to be 21st Century but hey,its got a superb atmosphere now sadly a rarity.Good to see that restoration work continues which must be like the proverbial Forth Bridge repainting! Lovely ballroom with minstrel gallery etc and good acoustics.
Pity that Blackpool is so bedraggled;theres a distinct feel of resignation!

Room Tip: the hotel is massive and therefore for the less agile ,a room nearer lifts is wise.

Stayed here with my boyfriend to see the last weekend of the illuminations. Although didnt get chance to use the pool facilities or drink in the bar can say the rest of the hotel was absolutley lovely. Hotel entrance is very grand, all high ceilings and chandeliers. Parking is cheap in the very large hotel carpark, or if you cant get on that like we couldnt free on the road outside.
Location is also excellent, about a 10 minute walk to the tower.
We'd never stayed in the hotel before and wanted somewhere better than the bog standard travel lodge. Well all I can say is we wont be back to the travelodge!
