“A gem of a hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 February 2014 via mobile

Visited The Imperial Hotel,Blackpool for a couple of days with my mum & daughter from 18th feb 2014 & what a lovely time we had! We have previously stayed at The Hilton but looking at the deals available, we decided to give this place a try. So glad we did,it's such a beautiful building and has been well cared for. A few reviews say it's in need of upgrading and decoration, I would disagree. We had a lovely family room which had all we needed , I'm not a great sleeper but I slept like a log! Wanted to bring the bed and pillows home ,so comfy! The only area we used which let the hotel down a little was the pool. The area itself is brilliant, lovely changing area, gym & pool facilities but the stairway down to the leisure facilities is a bit worn and tired which is a real shame as the actual facilities are great. I've found this in a few hotels, it's almost as if this bit gets forgotten, when really it sets the scene for the leisure area. We ate in the hotel both evenings and the food was just lovely, beautifully presented and tasty. Breakfast was brilliant with loads of choice. Finally the staff were lovely, in particular Matthew,Alistair & Carmel were so so lovely, helpful & friendly a real credit to the hotel. So give this lovely old place a try, it deserves to be loved & we will definitely be back!!

Stayed for 1 night in a standard room. The room was clean and tidy and in general good condition. The bathroom was ready for refurbishment with some damaged tiles and window frames but all clean and everything worked. So for the money it was good value. The reception, bar dining room were all very good and the staff were excellent too.

Room Tip: Go for a room facing the street.

Historic hotel with pictures in 'No. 10' Bar of all the British prime ministers who have stayed there. Lots of Churchill stuff. The meals were excellent and the staff happy and friendly. At breakfast we ordered kippers and poached eggs - no problem and very good.
Blackpool promenade has been much improved since our last visit some years ago.

Room Tip: You would pay a lot extra for a sea view bedroom. Lifts are modern, stairs reasonably wide though no...

Firstly, may I say thank you to Alison for making our stay wonderful with unexpected champers on ice in our room. Your choice of room was lovely with a wonderful view.
Reading some of the reviews makes me wonder what people want from a traditional hotel of its age. Everywhere is spotless and the furnishing is beautiful. The breakfast is amazing with so much choice: cereals/cheeses/fruit/yoghurts/Danish pasties/donuts/muffins/bread/toast/various fruit juices and a traditional cooked breakfast. Tea pot and coffee pot served at table. The pool and spa is lovely and relaxing. Robes can be requested at reception. Hot powerful showers and warm comfortable rooms. We were able too leave our bags after check out which was brilliant as our lift was later in the day. Thank you Alison and team. See you later this year for another treat.X gwen

Extremely good value for money with fantastic sea front location. I loved this historic hotel especially the No 10 bar. We booked a spa weekend for 2 and I loved the treatments and the friendliness of the hotel staff was great. My only negative comment was that our room was too small but we had been given the option to upgrade. Overall an excellent weekend break and no doubt I will be visiting again soon.

We booked the Imperial as a romantic getaway for Valentines and to meet up with family as Blackpool is halfway between us, although the weather was wet and windy the staff at the hotel looked after us extremely well and we would thoroughly recommend it. The Victorian charm of this hotel was amazing and we look forward to visiting again.
