“Looking a bit tired....”
Reviewed 5 January 2014

We visited while walking from South Shore back to North - a local pub chain Ma Kellys has opened up next door in competition - we didn't go in to check out if the venue is a threat , but The Auctioneer is looking a bit tired and run down on the inside , in need of a refurbish.
The staff that served us may have been new for the festive season but were not very clued up on the drinks on offer and slow to serve.
The one thing you can not deny is good value for money ; a selection of good real ales and ciders under £2.50 a pint and although we didn't eat on this occasion plenty of people were and plates were going back empty with no complaints

“Good Value for Money”
Reviewed 30 December 2013

We were up to watch football and the Auctioneer was recommended to us.

The pub was clean, service was good and the food was very good value for money.

A good selection of beers also , and I could not believe it when they only charged me £1.79 for a pint , really cheap.

“awesome steaks”
Reviewed 3 October 2013

visited here on a Tuesday which is steak night at weatherspoons , we do this often at home but never to this standard , I personally had the 14oz Aberdeen angus which was purely to die for , didn't know I was eating it total melt in the mouth job, whilst the better half plumped for the slightly smaller 8oz sirloin which was cooked to perfection just as was asked for at medium/well and as she commented to waitress to tell the chef "THE BEST EVER" what more can I say . service quick great atmosphere and friendly staff , value for money
