Arrived on a Friday afternoon to find a very smelly place and no ensuite rooms - who wants to walk through the hotel in the middle of the night to find a toilet? The young man who met us on arrival, after waiting some time for the door to be opened, was quite pleasant but said he had only been there for two weeks and didn' know much about the hotel. After looking at two rooms which appeared rather dark and dingy, like the rest of the place, we left and were lucky enough to find a place just across the road - the Canda Hotel - with lovely clean rooms and friendly owners.

Stayed here spontaneously a couple of months ago as an anniversary treat, to escape the kids and enjoy some quality time together. When we arrived, (all tired and thirsty from our journey from Birmingham) we were greeted by Robert, who was genuinely very polite, happy and welcoming. He firstly helped with our bags and arranged for our car to be parked safe and secure nearby free of charge, then after being told it was our anniversary, he upgraded us (free of charge) to a beautifully decorated room, where clean towels and bedding was laid out perfectly. He then kindly bought us an ice bucket filled with ice and some very nice champagne flutes to enjoy the bottle of veurve clicquet that we had bought along with us to celebrate. After showering and getting ready, we went down to the bar, where Robert offered us a drink on the house to celebrate our anniversary. He explained that breakfast finished at ten, but we could come down after ten, as he did not want to rush us. Robert also helped us find a steak house as this was our preference and we did not know which places were good to eat. After having a lovely evening, we went back to our rather comfortable room, where we heard no noise (even though the hotel was almost full to capacity) and had a fab nights sleep. The following day, we were presented, with one of the best breakfasts I have ever had! it really was amazing! The food is of the highest standards and all I can say is please go and sample and tell me that you don't agree that Robert should be charging double for what you get. In all honesty, this is what was the highlight of my stay. The breakfast!! Everything was fab, but I am really funny with food and rarely eat a breakfast! so it was a shock to me that I ate most of it!..Beautifully presented to match the taste. Upon "trying' to check out, Robert then said we can leave our car where it was until we were ready to head back to Brum, and that we could put our luggage in a back room for safe keeping until again, we were ready to leave. Upon returning at a little past 6 and soaking wet from a particular white knuckle ride, Robert said, take your things back up to your room and use the shower etc. How kind are you Robert?? I can not believe some of the reviews I have read, as I am totally bowled over by the quality of this hotel, the hospitality and most of all the kindness of Robert. Will definitely be going back again and again and again. (apologies for late review update, but better late than never). Good Luck you guys!!

we stayed at the Browne's hotel for the bank holiday. I found the staff very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. The place itself was scrupulously clean. The breakfast was very nice too.Overall we had a great stay and I would highly recommend it .

Room Tip: there are bunk bed rooms which are quite small but they are very clean. There is no bar but the staff allow you to bring your own drink in.

We stayed for four nights in a lovely double rom - great decor, comfy bed, very clean room, great shower. Breakfast very good - good sevice ties and veggie sausages too! Location was good for Winter gardens - we were there for Rebellion Festival. Only downside was that we had no WC in room - had t go down hall - not to bad, and dressing gowns were provided. Would definately stay again,
