Hi Sue
Many thanks for your complementary feedback. We are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Good to hear that our eccentric bingo caller ‘Nicky Flash’ was to your liking as well as the rest of ‘Team Elgo’.

We went to the Elgin hotel on the 10th Jan for the weekend had the best weekend with fantastic people (except a couple of people after there child was abusing others children) that was sorted very quickly and they left thank god !! The hotel and staff were amazing,as was the rooms and food .The entertainment was great for adults and children.reading the last review I can only say that in are party of friend's there was a gay couple and at no point was there homathobic comments heard they were made to feel very very welcome as was everyone ! Brilliant weekend all round and the tresure hunt the next day topped it off nicely with the kids we will definitely be going back next year and for many more after that.I would like to say a big thank you to les Marshall for making this fab weekend happen.

I really used to love this hotel however, please take my advice and avoid this hotel at all costs if you or any of your friends/ family are gay. We have.just got back from a "weekend"at the Elgin. We have been for the "Les Marshall" weekend several times, however this year we found ourselves spending a night in abject terror...we had a great first night however at approx 12 midnight my sister and I decided to go to bed. We were travelling with a group with children and at this point one of the mothers decided to approach me about an incident that had happened 7 hours previously involving 6 children ...including my 9 year old daughter and her 12 year old son. The "lady" both physically and verbally attacked us and asked me to go get my 9 year old so that she could "sort us both out". At this point my sister stepped in to protect her niece and at this point we were subjected to the worst homophobic abuse I have ever heard. My daughter was absolutely terrified and the police were called and actually put on record this persons comments as they were so offensive. My problem with the "Elgin Hotel" is the fact that the waitress bore witness to this attack, however when questioned by police changed her story to say that although she'd heard every abusive word against us she'd seen nothing. Also, the guest who had been witnessed hitting myself and being abusive was allowed to stay at the hotel, whereas the victims were forced "for safety's sake" to leave with no offer of a refund despite having paid for the full weekend. This is totally disgusting...how can they reward somebody for being a homophobic thug and not offer support to your regular customers

Your altercation with another guest must have been very unpleasant and certainly is not something that anyone expects to experience or witness at the Elgin. The last time I can remember calling the police to such an incident was over 20 years ago.
On the Friday evening after midnight when the incident took place both our Bars Manager Debbie and Les Marshall the Party organiser were quickly at the scene and the situation was brought under control. At your sister’s request , our Bars Manager rang the Police who arrived and took statements from those concerned and the barmaid (who witnessed the incident in the hallway). She (our barmaid) did make a statement but as she saw no physical contact, she stated that she only bore witness to a lot of very unpleasant language.
The Party organiser came to see me early on the Saturday morning. He was clearly upset by what had happened and I said that I would talk to all the people involved after breakfast service. By the time I got to Reception at 10am, I was informed that you had left and everyone wanted to let things settle down. The suggestion that we” forced you to leave” is blatantly untrue – we never asked you to leave. We were not given a chance to resolve any issues and we were left with an empty room.
Your inference that we are not gay friendly is wholly untrue. We have regular gay and lesbian guests who thoroughly enjoy their breaks at the Hotel. We also employ several members of staff who are gay – why wouldn’t we?
I am sorry that you felt so strongly about this incident that you marked down the rest of your stay with us as well. This does seem most unfair as this situation was not of the hotel’s making. Please be assured that we do not take “sides” with any of our guests , we remain impartial and treat everyone with respect and courtesy.

Once again a brilliant weekend with 5 friends at the Elgin. The young compere(bingo caller) was brilliant. The food was excellent as usual, served red hot and delicious. We were there on the weekend of 13/12 and on the Saturday we were given a xmas dinner, a present and the tables were all set out with xmas decoration, a lovely suprise. So thanks once again for a great weekend and we will be back to the NO 1 HOTEL IN BLACKPOOL soon. Linda Evans,Ann Harrison & Brenda Bridges party.

Dear Mikie
Many thanks for your kind comments – really pleased that you enjoyed your Christmas stay and not least your visit and present from Santa! It was a good Christmas all round with a nice group of people – many, like yourself, who have stayed many times before. This, along with good food and entertainment made for a memorable house party. I think about half of the guests have already booked again for next Christmas.
We look forward to welcoming back.
Kind Regards and Best Wishes
