Really liked this hotel, although it wouldn't be hard to look good in this location as the surrounding streets are littered with run down hotels and B&B's. Had booked based on reviews here and can't disagree with much said. Location couldn't be better for the Pleasure Beach and Sandcastle Waterpark, (our reasons for visiting Blackpool). We weren't fortunate enough to get a room overlooking the Pleasure Beach; ground floor front = car park, but can't say that was a problem, in fact no need to open window as air con functioning efficiently. The room was bigger than your average and my son was most pleased with his bunk room, simple idea but great touch so you don't all feel like you are sleeping in the same room! Double bed was huge, plenty storage / hanging space, nice tv. Bathroom looked nice, but shower VERY powerful, and can't say I'm a fan of the weird toilet seat. On the first morning it became apparent some sealant was missing on the shower screen hinge and water had escaped onto the floor, also the shower screen could do with being a bit bigger in general; i'm not a large person at all but it felt a bit difficult to stop water from getting everywhere and the extractor fan did not work. All made for a bit of a steamy experience! These things don't really bother me so much, i'm only there for 2 nights but all that leaking and steam build up can't be good for the building! I did mention this when checking out so hopefully they will sort it out. Service overall was of a very good standard, staff at breakfast were particularly attentive and there was plenty of food despite a busy dining room. The only thing I would say caused us an issue was children who seemed to have been left unattended; the first night a group were charging up and down the corridor knocking on room doors at about 9.30/10pm, they only looked to be about 8 or 9 years old. A complaint was made to reception and it stopped. On the 2nd night some children appeared to have been left alone in the room above us, there was shouting, banging, jumping on beds until 1am when it seemed to calm down. I appreciate this is not the hotel's fault, but be aware there are many children staying here and I perhaps would not recommend you stay here if you haven't got children! Not in the holidays anyway or it could be a bit much. I would be happy to stay here again, and recommend for a similar type trip.
