“Terrible hotel and over priced”
Reviewed 23 May 2014

First of all the bed mattresses are horrific... Old and worn and two mattresses together are the hotels idea of a king!!! With a massive lump in the middle of the bed.
The 24 hr menu is not 24 hr on everything... After 10pm there are only 5 options cheese sandwiches, prawn sandwich and two kinds of pizza that's it!!!!
Kids beds are great for toddlers but if you have 5 ft kids forget it.
£475 for two nights for 1 adult and 2 kids

Hotel was very clean and staff were extremely friendly. Great location for pleasure beach! Checked in just after 3 so the pleasure beach was still open so abit noisy with the coasters still going round but can't complain as my fault for going in so early!
Breakfast was gorgeous! Nice selection of food filled up for the rest of the day! Staff could have been abit quicker and friendlier removing empty plates.
Shower was powerful and relaxing. Bed was very comfty and couldn't complain about the room at all!
Only downside is it's the other end to the main town so it's quite a walk! Would stay again if I returned to blackpool

Just had a two night stay at this lovely Hotel. I was delighted to see my room, very spacious, well appointed and comfortable. I was so surprised at the standards here, the decor and comfort in the room was very high (don't be put off by the external appearance of the Hotel).
The view was less so, overlooking roller coasters isn't too scenic but you know the location when you book.
The evening meal in the restaurant was outstanding for the price and the portions were very satisfying.
My only niggle was the breakfast timings. 7:30 opening time is fine when you are on holiday but it is a little late when you are staying on business and leads to a hurried meal. If the Hotel could shift this by just 30 minutes the overall experience would be perfect.

We stayed here for 3 nights and every night we slept really well in our superior double room, which was upgraded to deluxe for no apparent reason what so ever! With no extra charge. So that was a plus!

We payed £235 (breakfast included) and we thought our money was mostly well spent. The food was lovely. But, we only ate in the resturant once as it was, for us, a little pricey! But the food we recieved was gorgeous! We felt the waitors and waitresses were slightly rude towards diners and a little bit snobbish, especially when they did not recieve a tip! But, apart from that the bar and restaurant had a good atmosphere.

The breakfast was really good! Amazing selection of both hot and cold food including a continental selction. They give you plenty of time in the morning to go an get your breakfast. So you don't feel rushed, although some mornings we did have to que for quite a while to be seated.

Our room was clean, comfy and the bed was huge, although we thought the bed could do with replacing as it was quite noisy and soft but we didnt mind. The Bathroom was spotless and really elegant. The power shower really is powerful and they provide plenty of towels and complimentary toiletries for you to use. There is also plenty of wardrobe space a decent flat screen TV and comfy seating area.

Our room had a view of the entire pleasure beach theme park, which was awesome to look at when we arrived. We were also allowed to check in early with no extra charge! And the receptionist was kind enough to let us leave our car in the car park all day on the day we departed with yet again..no extra charge!

The maid service was excellent. They came in everyday before 3 and provided us with fresh towels, made the bed with fresh sheets and emptied all the bins. Unless you left a DND sign on the door, in which case they leave your room as it is.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Big Blue Hotel. There were a few slight things that let it down a little but nothing major enough to put me off staying again! If I found this room at the right price again I would definitely book in! But I would just avoid the bar staff! ;)

We stayed here 19th to 21st May for the second time. Can only say that the staff here are a credit to the hotel, everyone from reception, cleaning, bar and restaurant are so friendly.Special mention to Andrew,Grita and Chris (hedgehog ). The food is great as is the service.
Would stay in a front facing room next time though, some noise from the theme park, other than that we'll worth the money

Had a fantastic stay here. A room upgrade to an immaculate beautiful room, great breakfast and every single member of staff I came into contact with couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. Highly recommended and will definately visit again.

Overall my partner and I, along with my 4 year old boy had a delightful stay, couldn't fault anything, and i actually put some thought into trying to find something..anything that could be improved upon, but there was nothing. We were only there over the weekend (Fri-Sunday) and didnt use all the hotels facilities but what we did use and experience we were very happy with. The hotel is in a great location, away from all the noise of the nightlife further up the road, and thus more appealing to families with young children.Rooms were a good size and clean, the area with the bunk bed was ideal.Buffet breakfast was good, with an above average selection. Staff were friendly and helpful, fantastic value, we will definitely return...
