“Superb stay”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

I am a really fussy traveller, so to be honest wasn't expecting much from my stay. Blackpool wouldn't be my normal weekend destination ,however was surprising my niece to a Pleasure Beach and Mama Mia weekend and the Big Blue Hotel had some very good reviews on Trip Advisor, i ignored the bad ones , like "special diet" travellers complaining. I was prooved SO wrong!!! Very friendly welcome, rooms spotless, we were uograded which was lovely. ALL staff very friendly. Breakfast was very good, fried eggs cooked in front of you, all very fresh, unlike a lot of buffet styles breakfasts. Perfect location if going to the pleasure beach, discounted wrist bands, own enrance into the park, FREE pass for those not wanting to go on the rides> thank you for a great stay!!

Absolutely loved the Big Blue Hotel!! I stayed for one night with my boyfriend, getting the Fun Package for £136 (Deluxe Double room, breakfast and Pleasure beach wristbands.)

The staff on reception were lovely and again at breakfast, very efficient staff. The room was lovely and had everything we needed- absolutely worth every penny.

As a guest at the hotel, you receive early entry into the Pleasure beach, which was a bonus as we got straight into to queue for the Big One and had done 3 big rides before the park even officially opened.

Great location too right near to the Pleasure Beach Station and a place to store your luggage if you need to for the day (so no need to pay for lockers at the pleasure beach.)

No complaints at all, great stay!

Room Tip: Many rooms at the back have a view of the Big One if you would enjoy watching that.

Visited the hotel for 2 nights b and b last week with my partner on a special offer which included Pleasure beach tickets. Have always wanted to stay here but looked at the prices and found them a bit steep for Blackpool.
The staff were all 5 star, especially reception who went out of their way to make you welcome and were very efficient and professional.
The breakfast was vey good but could have done with a little more selection on the continental side also only regular tea and no fruit teas or earl Grey. I did request some and they found some for me which was very nice. The quality of the cooked items were excellent. As regards to other reviewers comments about queuing I feel that you can expect this for a hotel of this size at peak times but the morning that there was a queue we waited no more than 15 minutes and were dealt with pleasantly and efficiently.
We had an upgraded room with a small lounge which was nice. The only comment I have is some of the furniture and woodwork is showing its age even though the room had been freshly painted. The bathroom was fine but the toiletries were not replenished on day 2. also the design of the room could have been better as I felt the shelving / workstation at the end of the bed was too wide making the room seem smaller and the area at the end of the bed was too narrow if there had been a larger person in there.Cleanliness was of a high standard.
Car parking was excellent, secure and free and access to Pleasure Beach brilliant as you got wristbands from reception and had a private entrance with no queuing.
Apart from the hotel The Pleasure Beach experience was great as it was a weekday and not too busy and all the rides were operating. The park is kept very clean and if you want coffee the best is in the pleasant area inside the Ice Rink.It is also quiet in there.
We also went to Hot Ice which runs until September and having seen it many times over the last 40 years! and I can honestly say it is the best production I have seen.Magnificent costumes, skating, effects and music. Nice to see that some of the music and ideas have been re used in an original way from Eclipse which, in my opinion was one of the best shows ever seen in Blackpool.
Well done to everyone concerned.
A great 3 day break..

Room Tip: Various roms available, some larger than others and some with views of the pleasure beach

I spent one night in the Big Blue on 11 July. We have stayed there before, and always enjoy it. We stopped off on our way home from holiday. We had four bikes on the roof of the car and the receptionist provided us with a secure room to store them in. The décor in this hotel is lovely and the beds are extremely comfortable. We were very hungry by the time we arrived so we ordered a sandwich lunch. The sandwiches were delicious and were served with salad and crisps. Lunch was great value for money and I would recommend it. Breakfast is buffet style and is fine. There is lots of it and plenty of choice. The staff are all lovely and eager to help. The only downside for me was the noise early in the morning. This is however down to inconsiderate parents allowing children to run up and down the corridors and slamming bedroom doors giving no thought to those who are still in bed. It isn't the cheapest hotel in Blackpool, but you get what you pay for.

Not worth the high price you pay for the hotel. Had to queue for breakfast, as not enough table for everyone. The bathroom fittings were a disaster. The shower regulator was broken just kept slipping on shaft, on last day my partner nearly burnt herself, as could turn heat down. Taps on sink kept turning themselves on, clean your teeth with cold water, and hot tap turned it self on.
The air conditioning either very poor, or did not work, or they had it turned off.
Great staff, breakfast a bit ordinary for the price. Room kept very clean. Just getting a bit tired now.
Internet connection very good. Expected a bit more for the price.

Stayed for a 2 day business conference. Staff were very courteous, room was clean and spacious and well equipped.

Everything was great apart from wifi service which seemed overly complicated to use for our conference.

Room Tip: ask for Pleasure Beach view and watch the rollercoasters from your room.
