“blackpools best!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 July 2014

this hotel is a real favourite of mine.i have been 4 times in the last year.i have stayed in various rooms and all of them have been great.got a sea view this time so that was a wee bonus.this hotel is ultra clean and tidy.the meals are excellent-my choices this week-gammon steak, breaded plaice Cumberland sausage and braised steak-how good does all that sound?the portions are excellent-you wont go hungry here.breakfast too is top notch-cereal toast full English, pot of tea fruit juices-you cant ask for more.the entertainment is good fun-special mention to Nicole.the staff are all very good-simon deserves a mention here as he is a good laugh and works hard to keep the hotel ticking along making sure your trip is a relaxed an enjoyable one-this place is to me my home from home! I love the location too-just up from gyn square so there are shops near by if you need them.fleetwood and cleveleys are near and you can get a tram just outside the hotel so again its ideal/
do yourself a favour-when in blackpool go to this hotel-it is great value and you will love it-end of story!
see you all again at the chequers soon!

We have just stayed at this hotel for four days and had a wonderful time. It is right opposite the tram stop and bus route. Room was great and service good in the dining room. Food was plentiful and delicious. There was entertainment on and bingo a happy hour and quizzes. Most we liked the warm hospitality from the staff, the management really run this hotel well and think nothing of going the extra mile, we forgot to order a newspaper and someone went and got us one specially, and was leant a walking stick as we left ours. We have stayed in 4 & 5 star hotels over the years and not had the good service we had here. The only thing we would of liked is a ramp in to the hotel as my partner is not too good with steps. We are looking forward to returning later in the year.

Room Tip: Sea view room was good standard

stayed 3 nights with a m8 who has never been to Blackpool. nice easy check-in, rooms brilliant. access to trams to Blackpool and Fleetwood was easy. The boss Linda came round to chat and make sure we were happy and at night when we got in from town the guy on reception, Peter, was always willing to serve us a nightcap (or 2). definately going back.

was very suprised by our recent stay here. we booked a last minute on the same day. We got the last family room so i expected the worst! Check in was quick and friendly, we quickly found our room. We was greated with a double bed a two singles! Well decorated and well presented. The bathroom was bigger than our bathroom at home! We had a sea view and a window that opened (the weather was very muggy and was very hot, the room was actually provied with a fan but we didnt find it until the morning as we didnt look in the wardrobe! our error!) the room was clean as was the bathroom. All the fittings were in working order and also clean. The breakfast wasnt the usual buffet and was the usual 1 sausage, 1 bacon, half tomato, 1 fried egg, 1 hash brown and a few beans was very nice. The service was fantastic all staff more than happy to help. You get the feel of of small family run hotel here. I will be returning asap.

Room Tip: we stayed in 207, large bathroom and sea view.

Just returned from a 5 day break with Caledonian to the Chequers Plaza. The hotel itself is very good as is the food and staff but unfortunately my sister is disabled and uses a walking frame. There is no disabled access to the hotel, the ramp to the side of the hotel with a lift was out of order. So this meant every time we went out I had to carry the walking frame down the steps outside the hotel. Another lady in my party was staying in a different side to us and the lift was out of order on 2 days of the 5. She suffers with COPD so having to walk up and down the stairs was comfortable for her. Entertainment was good on Monday and Wednesday the other nights it was just ok. We had a family room which was a good size for 3 female ladies.
