“Great Hotel”
Reviewed 17 March 2013

Thoroughly enjoyed yet another visit to the Cliffs. They've done an excellent job of refurbishing the Cafe Bar. They are in the middle of refubishing the restaurant. Didn't feel the food was as good as before. Breakfast was fine, so was the starters & sweets but main courses were disappointing. Meat was tough & some people sent their meals back.

Room Tip: we always ask for a sea view, bit more expensive but worth it

First time at the cliffs when shown room was very dissapointed, room was a bit dated and shabby looking.Went to reception to ask for alternative room,Staff were very helpful and gave us a diffrent room which was a lot better then the first.Food was excellent very quick service for breakfast and evening meal. also a lot of choice.Overall nice break but hotel rooms and hotel need a bit updating.overall value for money.

Room Tip: Seaview rooms we were told were a lot nicer, there were none available at the time .

Just back from the Cliffs and what can I say:
Reception; The smartly uniformed staff are excellent, being pleasant patient and very helpful
Rooms: Our beatifully carpeted room had smart decoration and the bed was comfotable with white duvet cover, soft pillows and a maroon cushion to complete The bathroom was faultless with all the hot water you could use. Room service was very good. Minor niggle was that noise was evident from A/C unit outside
Food:. A wide selection of choices, beatifully cooked and served. Compliments to a highly skilled chef (Tip....The "Lamb Henry" was to die for) and dedicated service team.
Entertainment: A variety of good acts with 2 each night plus Bingo. Also indoor pool/sauna/jacuzzi plus excercise gym, all included in the price of the rooms.
We don't frequent 5 star hotels, but I can't imagine them being any better than the Cliffs

Stayed here many times, really gone down a few notches. Stayed our usual fri to Sunday package.
.. Food service poor very slow
.. Food poor
.. Food presentation poor, veg used to be served separate, thrown on a plate now with the rest of meal.
.. Kids club brilliant but way too hot in the base.
.. Bar service very slow in cafe bar but lack of staff n some staff unsure what to do. However Sunday exceptional lady very professional and helpful.
We have a rewards card and get money off vouchers but it really has put us off we did not bother going for our meal Saturday.
Let's hope the old Cliffs standards are back. Hate to complain but really needed to on this one.

Absolutely love this hotel, food good, staff very nice and pleasant, lovely warm comfortable clean room, no view but then we did not want to spend our time in the room looking through the window. Our fourth time here and hope for many more.

Having stayed 4 years ago we persuaded our party of 13 not to go back and stay in a hotel close by. My parents who enjoy the Cliffs however wanted us to see the improvements they have made over the years by taking us to lunch in the recently refurbished cafe.
It looked great and was very comfortable, unfortunately that's where it ended. After a hours wait for very basic food my daughters beans on toast was served cold, I had let my warmish chilli go but couldn't with the beans on. To then try and convince us that they had met the minimum hygiene standards was astonishing especially having seen a male manager test a jacket potato with his finger. They have a lot to learn and much more work to do with the new staff but this shouldn't be at the expense of great customer service.
