I stayed at the Cliffs with my family this summer. The staff were friendly and attentive. The entertainment was first class but the bingo should be dropped with more emphasis on the acts and the dancers. The restaurant staff were extremely efficient, smartly dressed and providing an excellent standard of service. The childrens club ensured that the children had lots of fun and entertainment by the excellent team. Some upgrading of the hotel is required but the Cliffs did provide excellent value for money.

Was dreading going because of sickness bug on previous week but we had no need to worry hotel was very clean room was perfect cleaned every day service was excellent food was good, kim was great really quick and efficient dont know how she did it at her age missed her on her day off. Only down side was such a long way to town centre trams always full and drove past without stopping but the walking did us good. If you do get trams get a day pass much cheaper. Entertainment wasnt the best catered for young children. Games area was good but was kept far too hot we only went once unbearabe heat, hotel could save money by turning heating down in all areas. Get there early or you wont get parked. We had a good stay but think it was a bit overpriced.

It didnt get off to a good start when we arrived at 2.30pm and told although our room was ready we could not have the keys until 3pm...and there was no where serving drinks in the hotel at that time.

The family room, well, it was clean but very shabby and tatty looking much like the whole of the hotel. One of the windows was stuck open by several inches and could not be closed at night, luckily the weather was quite warm for the time of the year and our children are teenagers and not toddlers. We did ask for an iron to use but were politely told that it wasnt possible.

The pool area could have been cleaner and better surpervised. When our children and their cousins went to use this facility they were bemused to find a young couple openly having sex in the jacquzzi....and not a word was said by the staff member on duty!

The food was ok, dinner better than breakfast by far. Our main problem was that our table which was a party of 8 adults and 5 children age ranges from 6 - 16, were served by the famous Bill.
No doubt, he loves his job but we found him to be a total pain. We humoured his bad jokes, even worse one liners but he didnt know when to stop and keep his opinions to himself. Constantly telling our daughter who was suffering from a heavy cold and throat infection to stop looking so miserable every morning and"smiling costs nothing" wasn't helping matters to a sick teen! Even though we explained on the fist morning that we'd most likely to be eating breakfast at different times as we'd be doing our own things during the day, Bill was insistant that we would all eat together whether we wanted to or not by blatantly ignoring any requests for food until we were all present and correct!!

Never again!!!!!!!!!!!

Arrived with great expectations to celebrate big family event. Disapointed to find it tired and in bad need of renovations. Check in was slow. 1st room smelt funny and had filthy windows. 2nd room smelt better but windows still unclean. Swimming pool needs a good scrub. Food on the dinner service was a major plus, all members of our party impressed with the quality and quantity. Entertainment on par with that from a working mans club. Drinks cheap. Staff extremely helpful in all areas. Stayed two nights, on the Saturday night large number of children in the hotel became ill with vomitting, later a number of adults became ill. 4 out of our party of 6 became ill.

Apologies that your initial room did not meet expectations. In a busy hotel , such as this, there is a constant programme of refurbishment in place.
We are pleased you were impressed by the quality of food provided.
The hotel is currently closed due to an outbreak of the Noro Virus, an airbourne, contagious, infection with sickness symptons. We are working closely with the Health Protection Agency and have closed upon their advice for thorough steam cleaning and replacement of some soft furnishings including carpets. We WILL be re-open as normal on Friday 23rd October. We always treat the best interests of our customers with the utomost importance and regret that some of your party were affected by the virus.

As we have a family that includes a young child and a teenager, we were unsure before we booked if the hotel would be suitable, but took the plunge. We are so glad that we did. The location and the hotel were perfect. There was something for all ages. The Kid's club was fantastic. Our 5yr old would have spent every waking hour there if he could have. Our 14 year old son, though being "at that age where everything is so un-cool" loved the Kid's Zone, with the internet access, music videos on large screen, pool table, etc.
The entertainment for the adults was very good and we did not see an act that we did not enjoy. All the acts seemed as if they were also really enjoying themselves, not just going through the motions.
The food in the restaurant was fantastic. Such a varied choice each evening, including an excellent vegetarian choice for myself instead of the usual cheese salad I am offered at many other hotels! The children also had the extra choice of a children's menu, but the restaurant staff were more than happy to do smaller portions of the main dishes if the children preferred them, which the normally did. We did not have a bad meal throughout our stay.
There is a lovely swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi in the fitness suite and an extensive gym if you want to work off some of the calories from the excellent dinners!
The room that we had was very pleasant too. Lovely crisp, sheets, very nice decor, clean towels and plenty of space for us all to fit in to.
Lastly I have to mention the staff at the hotel. Everyone that we had contact with, the managers, receptionists, waiting staff, bar staff, porters, cleaners, etc., always had a smile and were so polite. We often felt as if we were the most important guests that they had. Nothing seemed too much trouble. They really were all happy to help.
We all had a lovely family holiday together, and could not have chosen a better place to spend the time. We have heard a rumour that Santa goes there at Christmas so we are now in the process of booking our Christmas holiday there too.

Arrived late after epic drive, only to find car parking a nightmare, ended up in front of the entrance abandoned! Staff very friendly, food in restaurant not as warm as I'd have liked, but we were very late and the kitchen was about to close. It tasted okay though, can't complain. The room itself was great, clean, tidy, fresh looking, can't fault it. Shower superb! The only drawback I could see regards the room, was that the walls were paper thin, and a lack of courtesy from other guests being noisy in the corridors, but that wasn't the hotel's fault. Hotel facilities looked great, but unfortunately both my son and I were ill during our visit so we couldn't take full advantage of them. I stress we were not ill because of anything that the hotel did!! Check out was without incident, no problems at all. This hotel was recommended to me by a friend, and I would do likewise, without hesitation.

"we booked this hotel in july after reading some good reviews, then all the bad reviews started,i was really worried and even thought about cancelling.glad we didnt.
this hotel is only classed as a 2* by the AA so remember this when booking"

the hotel looks very impresive from the outside but the inside needs a little upgrading ie carpets and some painting. as you enter the hotel the reception, dining room. cafe bar and the entertainment lounge are all on the ground floor. the basement as the gym.pool.kids area. and on the upper four floors are the bedrooms.

the bedrooms are quite nice the views would be great but for the sea salt that sets blow onto them.bathrooms ok water very hot.

resteraunt very nicely presented good choice of menu usually 5 starters.4 mains 5 sweets. coffee and tea are not served with evening meal.drinks can be ordered from wine waiters.

pool area very nice. pool towels are provided. loungers and chairs around pool. and small bar and cafe area with large tv. changing rooms ok

entertainment in the evening very good. comedian called terri cotta was excellent.

i think this hotel would appeal to all ages who enjoy short breaks its only a 2 star but as lots of extras that other hotels in blackpool dont have ie swimming pool.entertainment. childrens activities
