Reviewed 7 June 2014

A nice hotel, very accommodating nothing too much trouble for Vic and Vivien. Good food. The 4poster bed could do to be replaced and hopefully it will be soon. Just. off the South Prom so easy access to the pleasure Beach and the bus and Tram routes.

Room Tip: Make sure everything in the room is working.

Booked a 2 night stay with groupon for a mini holiday with my Son. Was very impressed with the location being minutes walk from pleasure beach and sandcastle. The first room we were given was awful, no windows and was so small, felt like a Mdf coffin, luckily the shower didn't drain and leaked on the floor so I had a good excuse to ask for a different room. The other room was bigger and had a window which was good, even though it had no curtain the sunrise at 5am didn't seem to bother my son , had tired him out enough in the day! The shower had a crack in it and no hot water but did not complain about this as felt bad, the manager was so nice . On a positive note, the food was amazing. Would actually go back! Cold showers are good for you, right?!

Booked Alfies on a two night B&B deal with a bottle of wine via Groupon for £49
Arrived late afternoon to find nobody around in reception area, nor a bell that you could ring to alert anyone. Shouted Hello a few times until the owner appeared. He was very polite and welcoming and showed us to our room. We were in Room 20. Ok it was small and minimalistic comes to mind. The bed was comfy and we slept extremely well. We noticed that the curtain rail looked like it was about to break in half. The tv stayed on the music channel permanently as much as we tried to sort it out. The hot tap in the bathroom had no water at all coming from the tap. They forgot to put towels in the room, so had to ask. The whole place looks very run down and dated, needs a good hoover and re painted! Loads of obstructions on the stair wells/escape routes and a fire risk. Breakfast was yummy and filling but poor owner was running around like headless chicken, he needs more staff. Very close to Pleasure Beach etc and local shops nearby. Parking the car was amusing due to the limited amount of street parking. Parked a few streets away. Had to ask for bottle of wine lol, he didnt freely volunteer this. Think this place could be a fab hotel if only it was run a bit more efficiently and not more like a youth hostel.

Room Tip: Not number 20, cant say what other rooms are like but didnt like ours at all.

I bought a Wowcher deal for Alfies hotel for a 2night stay with a friend. Upon arrival he welcomed us and helped us to park up then gave us our room key. The room itself was quite small but had everything in we needed. However when we inspected the room we found an empty cigarette packet down by the bed, a make up panel down by the other side of the bed, no toilet roll and no tea bags. When we went to check out there was no one around. The location is ideal if you are visiting the pleasure beach theme park as it is a very quick walk but it is a good 15-20minute walk away from all the other attractions. It wasn't a bad place to stay it was very basic but due to the state of the room I don't think I would stay here again.

Booked Alfie's on a groupon deal, and after reading the reviews we thought we'd landed on our feet and were gonna get a nice friendly hotel where the food is great and the staff second to none. Poss a bit presumptious for the money we had spent, but regardless of a deal or full price, standards should not slip.
We arrived at the hotel on the first night of our stay and we were dog tired, we were let in and asked to wait. The lady returned with the key to our room and pointed up the stairs, leaving us to it.
The first thing that met us when we entered the room was a window with no curtains, just a flimsy see through covering. My wife had to fight with a fleece blanket to give us some privacy.
I then checked out the bathroom which was quite small, but as was the room was extremely clean - spotless in fact, so things were looking up.
The decor was simple and the bed a little lumpy, every time one of us turned a spring sprung behind us.
The second morning i had to go and find someone before breakfast to see if we could get a hairdryer. The man i spoke to seemed quite friendly and the hairdryer was promptly retrieved.
We then went for breakfast which was fine (I would have said mediocre but as we never left any i thought that was a bit rich)
As we sat outside for a smoke, a workman appeared and began doing odd jobs around the hotel, the laundry man also arrived. A plus i thought as it showed that the hotel kept ontop of their maintenance and really had a high standard of cleanliness, so things were looking up, but alas not for long.
We went back up to our room where we could clearly hear the couple next door which gave indication of just how thin the walls were (they talked from when they awoke until they fell asleep, then snored until they got up to talk again!! - this was no fault of the hotel of course!!)
We headed out that night to a show, planning to return to the hotel bar to finish off the evening, but the whole place was in darkness. I had to make a hasty retreat to the nearest off license and we spent the evening wathcingtrash TV and listening to our noisy neighbours.
On the third day we were woken up by the fire alarm going off and due to the one too many beverages the night before I didnt know where i was, but managed to stumble to the outside of the building.
The alarm stopped after about ten minutes, but not one person came to explain or advise what to do next, so we made our way back to our room. As it was our last day we didnt make an issue but our room was not touched in the three days we were there - no towels, no teas/coffee, no beds changed.
Later that day we said goodbye to Alfie's, I dissappointingly hope, for the last time.

Where do I start, we arrived on Friday 23 May, we had booked 4 rooms for the Friday & Saturday, when we arrived at the hotel one of the rooms was not ready so we had to wait while they finished, only to find that the toilet light was not working so that had to be replaced there was no plug on the kettle, the room was freezing and round the side of the shower and bath panel was disgusting pure filth with damp patches running down the walls, one of our other rooms had no bulb in the bathroom, a mirror fell off the wall in another room, we were not told what time breakfast was, they could not find the key to one of our rooms when we went for breakfast on Saturday morning we were served by Victor in tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt splattered with paint not a nice sight and we were giving 2 slices of toast for 3 persons. everything about this hotel is grubby and could do with a good clean they should re-name this hotel Fawlty Towers, it was a total disaster. We had to contact the company we booked through and they moved us to another hotel on the Saturday morning when we explained to Vivien why we were leaving ie the filth in the bathroom and would she like to come and have a look her attitude was I didn't clean that room she would not come and look and was extremely rude, we then spoke to Victor who did come and look but said he only managed it for the owners and they cannot be contacted we eventually got details so we could raise the issues with the owners, think they need to send in the environmental health dept to shut this place down, absolutely disgusting experience and our weekend would have been totally ruined if we had not moved hotels'

The rooms are an ideal size and well looked after, plus the beds are comfy
Breakfasts were also quality!
