“Good for the money”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

We went to Alfie's on a Groupon voucher. It was 2 nights B&B and a bottle of wine for £49. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. The room we had (20) was very small and the bathroom tiny. There was a shelf above the sink which was too low and this made it difficult to brush your teeth or wash your face in the sink.
The breakfast was well cooked and tasty. However, on the first morning, too many guests arrived for breakfast at the same time and there weren't enough tables. The guests who were seated had to wait for over half an hour for their cooked breakfasts. The second morning was much better organised.
The wine was a nice white. All in all, we had a good weekend away and would go again to Alfie's- but in a different room!

Arrived midweek, lucky to get parking 4 doors away. Bought 2 nights on Groupon. The area is not as bad as I've seen described, Beirut by the sea. The council don't supply wheelie bins so refuse bags get torn apart by gulls which has nothing to do with the location. Upon arrival and ringing the doorbell we were greeted by the proprietor(in tracksuit bottoms and we got no bottle of wine as stated in previous reviews but who cares, he's not sharing our bed or getting us drunk) who kindly gave us room 1 which has a bath. The room was decent and the interior of the building etc is quite decent. There are a few niggles but for £49 for 2 nights and breakfast each morning it's not anything that is worth complaining about. We've paid a lot more for places no where near Alfies. The breakfast is very well done and not soaked in oil etc. Our 2 year old hates greasy food but ate breakfast without a fuss as did we. Coffee is hard to make decent in a pot but again it was delicious. Down the road you have the promenade and plenty of stores, a Weatherspoons and any other convenience. The Theme park is great for adults and children but will cost you. If using a car to travel down the road (5 minute walk) park in the plentiful carparks but they are 7 - 12£ for the day. There are other greats who made complaints in their reviews which are fair points but be sensible particularly when paying £49 for two nights with 2 mornings of breakfast. For 2 adults and a child we would have paid £15+ per morning at Mcdonalds etc so think about that and Alfies gives you cereal, fresh fruit and a full English with coffee and fresh orange juice and milk. We would happily stay again and recommend it to anyone who like us has to do things on a tight budget. Thank you for a pleasant stay Alfies.

Booked a 2 night stay but only managed to stay one of them....... the place was filthy. The owner greeted us in dirty baggy jogging bottoms and t-shirt which he was still wearing at breakfast the next day, unshaven, sweating and serving food. The cutlery was filthy, the fruit juice glasses were filthy, the bacon was so hard it was uncuttable. OMG I could go on and on. Never, ever again.....!!

To be fair we found this through a third party so was not sure what to expect. In one word SUPERB. many thanks to Vic and his wife for making us so welcome. We stayed in room 9 which was ideal for us as a couple. Lovely new bathroom installed. Flat screen TV on the wall facing the double bed. We had dinner and breakfast and both were lovely. No complaints at all. We were on the first floor which was fine as I have a dodgy knee anyway. lol. Vic welcomed us warmly and made sure we had everything we needed for our 2 night stay. We needed more tea bags and milk etc and were given them happily and quite a few when we asked for extra. i would deffo recommend Alfie's Hotel and if in Blackpool again would certainly look at booking this again.

Room Tip: As a couple room 9 suited us fine. apparently one of the rooms has a 60in screen for all you TV buff...

Me and 5 friends stayed here this weekend for a hen weekend. Seen the deal on group on and contacted victor to book. Victor has been great with us in all fairness couldn't of asked for amy more. He accommodated us well with a ground floor room that fitted us all in. The room was very clear and tidy with two towels at the end of the bed for each day. All been recently painted so nice and fresh. They booked out taxi into town and told us all breakfast details for morning.
Victor And his staff were fab has a chuckle with us as well as looking after us.
We had to leave 9 am Sunday morning and he opened breaky up earlier so we could fill up before we left.
We all enjoyed our experience there and would recommend

A nice hotel, very accommodating nothing too much trouble for Vic and Vivien. Good food. The 4poster bed could do to be replaced and hopefully it will be soon. Just. off the South Prom so easy access to the pleasure Beach and the bus and Tram routes.

Room Tip: Make sure everything in the room is working.

Booked a 2 night stay with groupon for a mini holiday with my Son. Was very impressed with the location being minutes walk from pleasure beach and sandcastle. The first room we were given was awful, no windows and was so small, felt like a Mdf coffin, luckily the shower didn't drain and leaked on the floor so I had a good excuse to ask for a different room. The other room was bigger and had a window which was good, even though it had no curtain the sunrise at 5am didn't seem to bother my son , had tired him out enough in the day! The shower had a crack in it and no hot water but did not complain about this as felt bad, the manager was so nice . On a positive note, the food was amazing. Would actually go back! Cold showers are good for you, right?!
