We have just returned from a turkey and tinsel with Alfa to the Queen's. Have to say from some of the write up's we were not looking forward to it. How wrong we were.

Yes it does need up dating in bedrooms but it is an on going project (so be patient Rome wasn't built in a day). The staff are brilliant friendly, welcoming and helpful, the pool is first rate and as for the entertainment best we have encountered in an Alfa Hotel .

Give it a try forget a bit of chipped paint and not quite up to date bathroom and bedroom furniture (except beds that was new and good). This will come in time .
Thanks for a great time see you again in the near future.

We stayed here for a Turkey & Tinsel weekend with Alfa Travel. We paid £54 for Bed, Breakfast & Evening Meal with return coach travel back to Sheffield. I guess you get what you pay for.

Room

We were in room 325, which is a twin room on the top floor of the hotel, tucked away in the corner. The room was basic and a bit on the small side, but we could put up with it for one night. However, anyone staying longer may be a bit disappointed. The paint was flaking off the ways around the door frame. The bathroom was another matter which I shall get on to. The room had tea and coffee facilities and a tv and hairdryer. Walls were paper thin so could hear people in next room.

Bathroom

There was a broken tile at the bottom of the wall. This was extremely small. If you're any bigger than a size 8 or over 5ft tall, you're going to struggle. The 'en suite' consisted of a rather narrow bath with a hand held shower head a toilet sandwiched in between the bath and wall and a sink. There was barely enough room to swing a cat.

Staff

Staff were friendly. We had Daniel serving us our meals. He was very friendly and efficient. We really couldn't fault him.

Entertainment

We didn't catch much of the entertainment. We stayed about 30 minutes to catch a male/female guitarist/singer duo. They were mainly catering for the audience in the hotel, which seemed to be the more mature audience. They were good, but would have liked to have seen them do some more modern songs. I guess they have to play to whoever the majority of their audience is though.

I think I would go back, but I wouldn't pay the actual hotel room rate of £64 for a twin room plus £14 for dinner for the room we were in. I guess Alfa have it priced around the £54 mark because they can guarantee numbers for the hotel so can make it worth the while for the hotel to be able to offer this price.

Six year's ago we took g/children to Queenshotel at Blackpool and was really disapointed, but the hotel has changed and for the better, very good welcome by deputy manager, and helpful staff, new lifts, and very clean and well decorated ground floor good food and good eating area ,the seaview room we had was good. So speaking from what we saw the Queens hotel is well worth a visit well done Alfa.

Room Tip: I prefer a seaview pay a bit more but worth it.

We stayed for one night on Saturday 16 November and afraid the Hotel did not meet our expectations. The room that we stayed in had been neglected in the fact that the windowsill was filthy dirty as were the windows. The bathroom had a cracked window. The floorboards creaked, sink gurgled when next door used their bathroom, the room was very hot to the point of being uncomfortable. On the plus side breakfast was a good experience with no waiting and great service staff friendly and helpful. Main areas of Hotel were comfortable with plenty of seating

Room Tip: not room 206 you will be far too hot, floorboards creaky, no shower

Just returned from the Queens Hotel in Blackpool, some reviews I read were not that good but I thought they were a bit unfair, On the whole the hotel is good and spotless, the staff were very nice and polite. We had a double room and though not very big for a short stay were fine, The hotel is a lovely building which houses a really nice indoor pool kept very clean and warm a good swim had by all. The entertainment was ok but unfortunately the residents bar was closed so we did not have a too late a night, bar prices were very reasonable and the food was fine especially the breakfast. If you have not been to Blackpool the hotel position is good right on the front with buses and trams on the doorstep to get around in some areas it does need upgrading and the bedroom and hall ways had very squeaky floorboards but it is an old building and adds to the old charm I would not like to stay for a long break but a long weekend was enjoyable.
