I found the "Cash Only" signs taped to the till a little off putting. The total of our bill was £36 and we were expected to pay cash. Not at all exceptable in this day and age ! We ordered our meal and settled down to wait for it, during this time we had time to take a good look around at our surroundings. It is more off a " help your self " chippie than a restaurant. Our table was near the window and wasn't very clean, the backs of the chairs were sticky to touch and we had to help ourselves to the cheapest cutlery in the world! A very large lighting unit had been removed from the ceiling giving us a lovely view of exposed wiring and dust! thankfully no one was sat at the table directly underneath. There was no salt , pepper or vinegar on the table and we had to pay an extra 20p for sachets of sauce. After a considerable wait a young lady brought our meals , she didn't even speak to us just plopped our meals down in front of us. I asked if she could exchange my plate as it had a very large chipped piece of porcelain in the rim, the plus side of this was that she did it without hesitation, the downside was that she did the task without any communication what so ever! The customer service was appalling ! We ordered fish, chips and peas, I was expecting a side portion of peas but when the meal arrived the whole meal was 'swimming' in peas, so if you like peas, this is definitely the place to go! All in all the fish and chips were fresh and they tasted better than the service !!!! Poor customer service was the downfall of our dining experience and the fact that they only take cash payments was disappointing, it's a shame, as the restaurant is in a prime location with an extremely good passing trade. My experience has resulted in me not wanting to pay a return visit!
