“Absolutely wonderful!”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

My hubby and I ate here for the first time last night, and can honestly say it's the best Indian meal we have ever had! The food was tasty, well cooked and plentiful. The staff were attentive and friendly. It felt a bit strange taking our own beer, but the waiters happily provided us with bottle openers too! We are planning on returning soon, but will also be using their takeaway. We would recommend Taj Mahal to anyone! Thanks for a lovely evening xxx

“Just gorgeous...a rare Jewel in Blackpool!”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

We went here on Friday night after wandering the back streets of Blackpool we came across this amazing little place...Staff were fabulous the food was beautifully cooked and fantastically presented...We had our 6year old son with us and they treated him like a little prince..as some places frown on kids out of an evening...Thank you for a lovely evening I'm not sure the names are correct.....Nasi and Faz....apologies if it's spelt wrong ladies but you were both lovely and had time 4 a little chat...whilst staying incredibly professional...if your in Blackpool Peeps this is the Indian to go to!.The only thing the premises are not licensed so you have 2 pop 2 the shop if you require a drink..as I don't drink I found it a much nicer atmosphere anyway!!.Many Thanks for your hospitality Laura Neville and Taiseer .ladypx

“Nice Food”
Reviewed 8 June 2014 via mobile

Enjoyed a meal here last night with the family, the service is attentive and made to feel very relaxed. The food was obviously freshly prepared none of this pre prepared food you could taste the freshness from the ingredients. I had my two young children with me and they are normally fussy in what they eat but after 3 chapatis and saag panner between them they were stuffed and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. I dine in loads of Indian restaurants around the world and have tried many a dishes and rate the Chicken Jalfreezi at the Taj Mahal in the top five of my list. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Blackpool because you will get clean, fresh, friendly and nice standards.

“Fabulous business night out...!”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

I organised a business meeting in Blackpool and was looking for somewhere in the town for a good value meal for a group of 25 of us. We had a mix of students, business people and professors.

From start-to-finish, this was a great find. I had been recommended another Indian restaurant by the conference location, but spotted that The Taj Mahal was one of 3-4 rated higher on Tripadvisor. Our departmental assistant got in touch with the four restaurants, but The Taj Mahal was the only one to respond and who were able to accommodate us.

When we arrived at The Taj Mahal, we were warmly welcomed and then promptly made our way across the road to an off-licence (The Taj Mahal is BYOB - Bring Your Own Bottle). That was fine for us, as we were all able to buy whatever drinks we wanted to accompany our meal - and all at reasonable prices. I would advise that there is a great range of Eastern European lagers at the off-licence and a few reasonable wines, but you won't find many British Beers on sale. There is however, a Tesco Express a few doors down the street which may have a different selection.

The food at The Taj was first class. A couple of our party had particular dietary requirements and a number were vegetarians. This was no problem for staff, and they were very diligent in who had what dietary requirements, without being made to feel "odd"..!

As such a sizeable part, we were on a set menu; sometimes this can be a bit hit or miss, but this was definitely a hit...!! We started with ample poppadoms and pickle trays. We were asked about our spice-preferences for the main course before being served up a range of delicious starters, "silver-service" style to our plates.

The main courses were all chicken-based (apart from for the vegetarians!) and were top-notch. Rice and naan bread were served a-plenty, and we were frequently asked if we needed any more, without feeling pestered. We even had a couple of extra main dishes - all served in individual bowls - to try.

We didn't have any desserts, but then I can't imagine any of us had room for one!

Service throughout was friendly and superb. At the end of the evening, one of the staff asked if he could take some photos for The Taj Mahal's website and/or Facebook - which of course was no problem. In return, I asked if I could have a copy for our own purposes, and he was only too happy to oblige, taking the time to show me how to transfer them across to my own iPhone.

All-in-all, I would say this was one of the best-value business meals out I have ever arranged. And if you think "best-value" is a misnomer for low quality, tasteless food, or small portions, then think again: this was delicious Indian food, served with care and in a friendly and relaxed setting.

If I am in Blackpool again, I would not look anywhere else for an Indian meal....!

“nice surprise”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

Busy neighborhood BYOB - a big team efficiently dishing up decent curry, served simply with genuine smile. For the heat scale - 'extremely hot' yielded something close to the typical 'Madras'.
