“A return visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2008

Just returned from another visit to the Carousel. The hotel is still of the same quality as I've mentioned before. Food is still superb and they are doing an amazing midweek break for £139. My only concern this time as mentioned in another travellers review was the barmaid who could only serve one table at a time in the resturant and idn't seem to notice when you need a drink when you first walk in. she was replaced one evening with a very friendly attentitive blond bar maid with a european accent who was over straight away at your table taking the drink order she applied the same service with every guest in the dining room. the other barmaid should ttake note. Overall a great stay and yet again we will return to this hotel as will my friends and family.

  • Liked — Food is superb and the accommodation is very clean and modern
  • Disliked — The brmaid who needs additional training in customer service

Just returned from 2 night weekend stay at the Carousel, hotel was nice but carpets throughout could have done with a clean, room booked through Expedia quoted a Queen Size bed, when went to room allocated room was rather small with a double bed,
went back to reception only to told that the hotel does not have any Queen size beds but the did upgrade to a bigger room and kingsize bed. Rooms were very clean and well equiped.
Breakfast was very nice with good choice of food.
Only gripe that I have was that on arrival at hotel the receptionist asked did me and my husband like line dancing , which we did reply "no" only to be told that line dancing was on that night. What they did forget to mention was that hotel was taken over with line dancers for the whole weekend and that the bar was occupied with these people and notices around the hotel saying that the dance floor was only for the line dancers therefore facilites at hotel not available due to this, this should be mentioned upon booking as we did not get any discount for lack of facilities.

Group of 4 of us returned to The Carousel for a 2 night break, greeted by the same friendly face that was there last August, Dinner superb, geordie manager had left, but no dropping in standards the young girl who replaced her was a pleasure, and the same staff faces were smiling, most other places staff change around everytime you visit. The proclaimers are still there at night, nothing is any trouble to them whatever the time, they seemed remember everyone.Rooms spotless, we never saw or heard our housekeepers, but they are 1st class.
One downside was the bar, now run by a gum chewing lady who needs a brush up on her customer service skills, no music or quiz as we had last visit. Tables awash with glasses and plates, and she berated one young member of staff in front of myself and friend for some unknown reason. This one area lets the hotel down.Prices terrific for this class of hotel, we will be back for the illums, marks 4, could have been 5, but nothing on at night.

If you're ever unfortunate enough to visit Blackpool then this hotel is a great place to stay, the rooms are not massive but they are very clean and look like they have been refurbished lately, the only downside was we were next to the lift and you could hear it going up and down.
we booked d+b/b for £87 and it was a bargain, 3 courses of good quality food a little bit rushed but that suited us to be honest as we had to get out. We had breakfast in bed and that was good, the bar area is really nice and the hotel is situated just along from the pleasure beach around £1.60 on the tram,it's just long enough to be outside the hussle and bussle of the strip.the is also free parking outside of the hotel in the little terrace opposite.

Twelve months on we returned to the Carousel for the weekend.
Having read one or two disappointing reviews since last june, we had to see why bearing in mind our last stay was fantastic.
There was nothing to worry about , the hotel was just as god as ever. The staff, room and service really are first class. I would recommend the Carousel to anyone.

Arrived early on a wet Saturday, went for a walk then arrived at the Carousel Hotel. Hotel situated in a small crescent with open sea views. At the reception desk we were greated by Carmel, who should be commended for her great customer service skills. We were booked in very quickly & advised of the dinner reservations procedure. We found our room (302) very easily. The room itself was a quite small double with sea views but suited our needs. The decor was very pleasant and spotlessly clean, with a fully tiled bathroom with power shower.

A warm welcome again at breakfast, in the pleasant dining room. Choices of Cereals with toppings, continental (croissants, pastries etc). Cooked breakfast (nice sausages) etc all on a self serv basis.

Once small gripe (as in all he other reviews), there was a wedding on downstairs & even though we were on the 3rd floor this was quite noisy late into the night.

Other than that i would recommend this hotel for its great customer service & cleanliness.

We stayed 2 nights at the Carousel, Blackpool for a family wedding. We arrived at 1-30pm and some of the wedding party were already there, having a cup of coffee. Our rooms were all ready and we checked in and went straight up.

Our room (201) was very spacious and had a lovely view (sea). The bathroom was big and the shower was superb - really powerful. I think the room may've been specially adapted for wheel-chairs.

The breakfasts are very good - there is a good selection of cereals and toppings (dried fruit and nuts), along with yogurts, loads of fruit juices (orange, apple, pineapple, cranberry, grapefruit), fresh fruit and pastries. There was also a hot buffet of 'fry-up stuff'. It was all 'as much as you can eat'.
The toaster is a 'conveyer belt job', but does a decent slice.

The reception staff, by and large, are very good and really helpful. We'd heard of a restaurant we wanted to go to on the second night, but didn't know the name. The girl on reception (I'm sorry to say I didn't get her name - she should be commended for her customer service skills) called us a taxi and got the name of resturant and booked it all for us.

I only have 1 issue (and a small gripe) with this hotel and in fairness it was not really the hotel's fault..... We had a sea-view room on the second floor and on the second night we were there, there was another wedding function and the guests were really REALLY noisy. There was screaming and shouting in the street and at one point a fight which nearly resulted in the police being called. There is no air con in the room, so as it was so hot, we had the windows open and could hear it all. After about an hour of really high noise levels (I know people enjoy themselves at weddings, but screaming?!?!), I called reception and the guy there was sympathetic, but said he couldn't really do anything. However, if you are staying here over the Summer months, it might be worth thinking about. - Try a back facing room?

The only other thing were the lifts - tiny - we had to send the bags up on their own and the corridors are narrow in places and make the place look a bit like a warren.

I would stay here again though definitely - it's in a quiet area of south shore, away from all the noise and 'Las Vegas lights'.
