had a very good 3 night stay , even though we were in the lower ground floor ,the room was nice ,it was quiet & clean ,would have liked a change of towels though.
meals were nice n tasty particularly the soup & sweets
staff were good, particularly the young barman who worked his socks off
but were all overworked ,there was a queue at the bar every night
good deal on the drinks £2 till 7:45
hotel ideally placed for the whole of blackpool
will return

We have stayed in many hotels at home and abroad and we find the Grand Metropole although only having a 2 star rating compares favourably to hotels with more stars. The food was excellent, the room was clean and the staff extremely helpful. A special mention must go to Tony, a waiter in the dining room, who was very attentive to our needs. Guests must remember this hotel is excellent value for money, in a prime location and we would not hesitate to go again or recommend to our friends and family.

My sister and I have just spent the weekend at the Metropole. It is not the cleanest of hotels, nor is it the friendliest. Most of the staff "look through" you when you talk to them - there is no eye contact at all.

My main concerned happened when the Fire Alarm was activated and an evacuation took place. It is worth mentioning here that a there are lot of guests who are wheel-chaired bound; on walkers or on walking sticks.

It was fortunate that the alarm occurred when we were having dinner.

If it had been in the middle of the night, how would the staff get these people down to safety?

I did witness a member of staff having an argument with a guest who had his wife in a wheel chair.

My question is: how many disabled are allowed in an hotel for it being safe in an emergency?

we booked a sea view room & requested a balcony but when we arrived found no rooms had a balcony & the window would only open 2" making it impossible to clean, therefore the view we had from the very narrow filthy window was of a very misty day spoiling the seaview, yet it was a very sunny clear day but you would never know. on the ledge outside were slates empty cans & a used durex but again with no way of accessing this area it stays dirty , this is the differance which you pay the higher rate for, the standard rooms are just as good but without the view. breakfast was rubbish cold & a lot of the self service hot plates empty no tomatoes or bacon, the scrambled eggs were watery & beans to runny. staff miserable on reception very unfreindly gave out wrong information about meal times & generally unhelpful. the hotel is one of the few that charges for use of a debit card in the area the others all belong to the same chain. whilst there the toilet blocked up to the pan with brown water and floating terds, we rang reception & was told its always happening & will send someone up, nobody ever came.

Room Tip: no room is better than others you just pay more for the socalled seaview rooms
