Me and my Husband both work in a hotel. We was very disappointed with quite alot of things. As a housekeeper I know how things should be. When we arrived we couldn't park in the grounds as there was no parking spaces. We had 2 park in multi storage which cost £7 for over night. When we finally got 2 our room it was ok. Went in bathroom where there was a hair in bath. N a hair behind toilet seat. About 4 tissues in the box aswell. As came bk in bedroom looked at the lamp and that hadn't been dusted on the base. Walked out room 2 the hallway where the stair lift wasn't working. The carpet edges looks like they hadn't been done for ages. As I do PA aswell. Then comes 2 breakfast it was ok. But no organization wot so ever. We waited 2 be seated. N was told by another resident who was staying there that we find our own table. No 1 came up2 us for room number. So basically any1 could go in for breakfast which was quite unfair on us that pay for b&b. We had 2 ask for pot of tea. Staff did no interact once and the table presentation was crap. Will not be staying again.

Was very apprehensive about this hotel after reading the mixed reviews and a disastrous stay in their Brighton hotel. But what a difference this hotel was.

Great experience from the start. Got parked in the hotel car park no problem, although it was full the next day. Very fast check in process and helpful receptionist. Was a pleasant surprise to be given suite.

The foyer and sitting area where very impressive. There décor maybe has a few blemishes, but with 20ft + high ceilings and a sea front location, im sure its not the easiest to keeps 100% perfect.

The room was huge! Large sitting area, 4 poster bed with lots of storage and a huge bathroom with a corner bath and double sinks.

There was also a separate kitchen area, with a fridge and microwave. (no tea tray for me) lol.

Once again, the décor was not 100%, but the overall impression of the room was great.

Breakfast was a buffet breakfast, it was nice, nothing to rave about, but was well stocked and hot. What more can you ask for.

We really enjoyed our 2 day stay and certainly will book this hotel again.

A bit thank you to all your staff for the hard work and great service we received.

Dear Guest, many thanks for taking the time to post a review.

Your comments are very much appreciated and have been passed on to the Staff. Its good to get a balanced view on these matters. Sometimes one has to experience the Hotel for them selves rather than rely on dubious inaccurate reports.

I was delighted to read that you felt you were getting value for money.

We look forward to welcoming you back in 2014.

My partner booked this hotel as it is close to the Tower Ballroom to which he wanted to take me on Valentines day. I read the reviews on my return. It seems to be pot luck on the quality of the room you are allocated. We had a spacious sea-view room, (room 160) which could have been splendid with some cosmetic attention. Generally passably clean, the spare blanket looked a bit grubby with a couple of suspicious marks on it. The bed was comfy, the pillows were not. The bathroom needs complete refurbishment miss matching bits have been replaced at various times. The wooden side panel to the bath was very scruffy and very chipped, wall paper peeled off the wall, a warning sign about a heated towel rail - there wasn't one. The shower hose was half severed near the head so the shower wouldn't work We reported this at about 1530. On returning after a walk at about 1700, we enquired at reception if the problem had been dealt with to be informed by the male receptionist that there was no one on duty from maintenance until the next morning. He was overheard by the duty manager( a lady from Whitby) who offered to rectify the problem, which she did by bring a new hose and shower head and fitting it herself - good service. In the dining room Mark ( the tall waiter) was very helpful and pleasant. We found some staff were helpful and pleasant, and some gave the impression that the guests were a bit of an intrusion we felt that with a few exceptions staff morale seemed to be low. Our impression was that the Metropole was Grand a long time ago, and that various owners have allowed it to fall into disrepair, and though most areas seemed basically clean, it really is in need of refurbishment. We came to the conclusion that we would not stay in a Brittania owned hotel again. I will show my partner - bless him- how to interpret reviews, I would not have chosen this hotel as it has considerably more poor-bad reviews than good.

I booked 3 nights in Feb2014.
When got to room there was a poor 12" tv. This was not working due to the weather I found out later. No one bothered to tell us at reception. There was building dust inside the windows sills. Curtain was off the rail on 1 curtain ring. Ceiling tiles damaged in bathroom. 1 radiator and room was cold.
Evening meal was fair and entertainment good.
The breakfast was cold and I ate hardly anything.
My partners food was cold and few hours later she was throwing up and very ill.
We left this hotel after one night and hoping for some refund. I would not recommend anyone staying here and as I spoke to other guests they had similar promlems

Booked four rooms for Fri 7th Feb for two nights, although we were aware of the really poor reputation of Britannia Hotels we were willing to give this place a go.

On arrival we were told they did not have 4 rooms but could provide them at a sister hotel in Blackpool. We did not want to go to the alternative hotel and asked to just cancel the rooms and we would make alternative arrangements.

They then tried to tell us that if we did not accept the alternative hotel we would be charged in full for the rooms. Do not fall for this, it is not legal and they can not do it.

After a few phone calls to the Manager at his home, who could not be reached, they then called the sister hotel who confirmed that we were not obliged to accept the switch and cancelled our booking. We then booked rooms at a 'real' hotel for the weekend.

Avoid this place like the plague!

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to post your comment on Trip Advisor.

Please accept my apologies for the fact that you cold not be accommodated here.

As a most piopular hotel, over-bookings do sometimes occur and we are glad to be able to re-locate guests to one of our other 2 Hotels in town.

I'm sorry you thought it preferable to cancel your booking and look for accommodation elsewhere.

Again thank you for taking the time to give us this feedback, and apologies again that it was necessary to do so.

I stayed at this hotel in the first week of February 2014, bearing in mind that the hotel was built in 1776, it is in pretty good shape. Having booked a short break with National Holidays, I didn't expect anything luxurious, especially for the price I paid, but I was rather pleasantly surprised. This hotel compares favourably to the Imperial Hotel, in fact it is a lot better than that hotel. The food was good and plentiful. Our room was adequate, with the bonus of a seaview. A power shower & a spa bath were also unexpected. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Blackpool.
