Having booked a 'suit' me and my wife were looking forward to a nice weekend. The suit was dusty, dirty and in bits !! Moved rooms twice and ended up in a sea view room - would of been a nice view if the windows had of been cleaned in the past 18 months. Sticky red stuff all over the 'welcome brochures', staff just casually wondering into our room, family had their luggage go missing, food was disgusting! I could rant about this dive all day!! Will not be going back.

Husband and myself have just spent four nights at the Grand Metropole. We were very pleased with everything. We had a room on the first floor which was clean, warm and comfortable. Breakfast was hot with a good choice, dinner was more basic food but quite acceptable for a two star hotel. We found all the staff friendly and hardworking. The entertainment was ok too. We would go again.

Room Tip: First or second floor is best as third floor allows smoking.

Dear Guest, many thanks for taking the time to post a review.

Your comments are very much appreciated and have been passed on to the Staff. Its good to get a balanced view on these matters. Sometimes one has to experience the Hotel for them selves rather than rely on dubious inaccurate reports.

I was particulaly pleased to read that you felt the staff were friendly and hard-working.

We look forward to welcoming you back at some point in the future.

My family and I have stayed at this hotel once before and we're not pleased then, however we decided to give it another chance as we needed a few days away over the Easter holidays. I really wish we had not bothered. Let's start with a positive, the hotel is near to all attractions, that is all that I can say on a good note. The decor of the hotel needs to be updated, as do a lot of the staff. Everyone that worked there apart from a young pregnant member of the waitressing team looked depressed and as though they did not want to be there. The food in the restaurant was cold a lot of the time and the only drink available in the dining room to accompany an evening meal was water, unless you wanted to traipse across the hallway and get yourself tea and coffee, not good when you have two children in tow. The entertainment is shockingly bad. On the first night a show was advertised to start at 8 o'clock, when it did not start I enquired about this and was told they did not know what was on, it all depended on the staff that turned up. The management must be pleased with the occupancy of the hotel, because they put no effort or care into their customers. It is giving the same impression that their sister hotel gave, when we stopped the Norbreck Hotel. Britannia Hotels are becoming fat cats that are only interested in money and not caring about their customers. The hotels could be so much better. I hope this helps. Do not stop here!

Room Tip: No tips apart from do not stay here.

Came with a coach party of 35 been before but not for 6 years.everything was poor from food to services, smell of damp all downstairs and never stayed in a hotel where bar shuts at 11pm not very good for the older age group with us who liked an evening in.to sum it up it was as if all staff had been told it was there final weeks work and it was shutting down and I don't think 35 people could all be wrong and I know it's Blackpool and expectations shouldn't be high

The hotel has had its better days, and décor is poor, however the hotel is a base, and why spend 3 times as much, when everything you need is there. Food fine, staff work hard. entertainment too short, albeit good while it lasted, too much time spent on Bingo. Rooms were ok, warm, but badly in need of over hall, but prices will then go up considerably. It had everything you needed apart from the comfort, but these days people know what they are getting before they book. People who write reports that rip hotels to pieces, surely would have read the hotel before booking, and these days you get what you pay for. Cheap, good value for money, and an excellent position. I wouls say be realistic in your expectations. A room costing £19.00p.p a night B&B is not going to be the same standard as a room costing £50.00p.p a night. The only real negative is the attitude of some reception staff. Some travellers are hard to deal with, however if you get a cheerful person, It would be nice to be cheerful back, and not to treat all customers with disdain.
