Returned from our third stay at the Metropole in the past fourteen months and personally we found this experience to be the most disappointing of our stays here.

First of all the positives, we had a fantastic twin bedded room overlooking the Irish sea which was very large (we've always been lucky at the Metropole in this regard) and had a spacious bathroom as well. It certainly was the biggest twin bedded room that I have seen at this or indeed any other hotel, We were very comfortable staying there but we didn't sleep well on the second night.

The biggest plus for the Metropole is the location, right in the centre of town and conveniently placed for the Winter Gardens, where we were watching the World Matchplay Darts on both evenings. It is handy to have the hotel a short walk away rather than queuing up for a taxi.

Now to the negative side of things. Firstly the staff have little or no personality, there is no greeting or hello from the staff in the restaurant in a morning. When you ask for something, they produce it to you, no words or comments. It'd be good to see a bit of personality in the staff. A "good morning" would not hurt at all.

The food is what is letting the place down, and though it wasn't the greatest quality previously, it has considerably declined. The evening meals were particularly poor, and were substandard for a hotel like this.

We have always stuck up for Britannia in the past (and we'll do so again when we think it's necessary) but this experience has made us consider whether we would want to stay at the Metropole again, and IF we were to return, would we want to just stay room only.

Dear Guest, many thanks for taking the time to post a review.

Your comments are very much appreciated and have been passed on to the Staff. Its good to get a balanced view on these matters. Sometimes one has to experience the Hotel for them selves rather than rely on dubious inaccurate reports.

I was particulaly pleased to read that you enjoyed teh experience.

We look forward to welcoming you back.

Beautiful sea view and close to trams and North Pier. Positives end there sadly. It was a tiny room for a big old hotel and barely room to erect the travel cot let alone move around with the pram in the room. Room was on the surface ok for cleanliness but windows full of flies dead and alive and dirt. Kettle unusable due to rust and grime inside just as well really as the tea was grenuinley the worst I've ever tasted. Breakfast was disgusting, filthy dining room, highchair grimy didn't go near it after first experience, food terrible quality, badly cooked and served on dirty plates and tables. Bed wasn't the worst and all staff were friendly enough! Will avoid Hotel and Blackpool in future as sadly very run down.

Room Tip: Large room with sea view if you must go.

I read many reviews on Tripadvisor before deciding to 'take the chance'! Would describe our room as well worn and a bit of a blast from the past however very spacious with a great sea view. We have 2 small children who are both relaxed and happy here. Staff have been friendly and helpful. The hotel is certainly nothing fancy (nowadays) but definitely worth a chance given the prices on offer. Thank you to the helpful young bar man who brought up a glass of milk to the room for our wee girl at bedtime. Not tried breakfast yet...

Satyed over night and I can't complain about the room we were given Ground floor. It was really clean throughout, bed was fine, bathroom was decent, Towels were clean.

One grumble was the bins being put out at 7-7.30am outside the window, but they are doing the job I was awake, but they were a bit noisy.

Car Park is a bit of a mare but that inconsiderate drivers blocking people in, can't blame the hotel for that. Over all I was really happy and would come back for the price we paid....but...

The breakfast was not the best! In fact it was pretty much inedible by my standards, Sausage looked deep fried, I cut in to it and spat it out, bacon looked and smelt like it was boiled, fried eggs were swimming, scrambled eggs were OK, bit watery, beans and tomatoes were just that. It really needs looking at, for me a B&B is about a half decent breakfast, this wasn't even close.

Would I come back? Yes, the room was fine but I'd head out to get a breakfast. I have another review of a Breakfast place in Blackpool which was spot on.

Room Tip: Only stayed on the ground floor (3) but this was fine for us

Rude sarcastic reception staff.
Slow working lifts
Out of date decor
Grubby carpets and skirting boards
Bathroom was discussing and dirty
Windows were rotten with broken handles

Breakfast was a grotesque experience. Tea and coffee offered when we were about to leave.

This lovely old building could be so much more nicer. It needs a lot of investment.
