Just back from 3 night break at this hotel. Best I have ever stayed at in Blackpool. excellent food, staff and cleanliness and rooms good. Nothing too much for staff, my in laws 85 years old were cold and they put the radiator on for them and took them extra blankets, that's service. The entertainment is good too although sometimes the comedian was hard to hear so needs to turn up his mike lol. Can't fault a thing about this hotel and would def recommend.Free car parking too taxi ranl across road, roughly £6 each way in taxi to tower area. ps noticed review food not good, rubbish food was excellent choice of about 6 or 7 of each course something wrong if someone couldnt find anything nice. too fussy........ ps i travel all over world and been blackpool for 30 years on and off so def best hotel Blackpool. wish had found it earlier. and also i m a fussy eater.

Room Tip: standard back rooms are fine, sea view likely good if you want the front but found the back nice and quiet although no view.

Booked last minute for a half board Easter break. Known about the hotel for many years and it's cabaret bar, talk of the coast, but we normally stay at north end of Blackpool, the Viking being near the pleasure beach in the south.
We had a few reservations that were soon dismissed by pleasant and informative reception staff, who, although dealing with many people during a busy check in time, did not do a bad job.
Food was average but nothing to complain about, plenty of it though and attentive courteous staff.Having said that, there was a choice of 4 starters, mains and desserts every night, along with a buffet 'fill your boots' cooked breakfast.
Although we had free access to the cabaret for all 3 nights of our stay, including reserved seats, we had chosen to go out to 2 other shows in town, booked before we arrived at the Viking.
That said, although enjoying Fridays cabaret offering, including a very funny comedian, above average girl singer and a compere standing in at the last minute as the resident compere was Ill - we felt 2 further nights of similar entertainment probably would be too much same same for us. This was proven when we arrived back after our Sunday show in town, to catch the last hour or so of that nights offering at the hotel, which to us was mediocre to say the least.
Our room was clean and spacious, with a sea view. we did have a noisy couple next door, who to be fair, the hotel did say that if we called the night Porter when they were being noisy, they would deal with it. We left it there.
Overall enjoyable stay, aimed at the older end, who probably lived their lives in a social / working men's club environment and still enjoy that format. No children allowed or stag / hen parties, which works well for its aims.

Dear ang2102511

Thank you for your trip advisor review. We are sorry that we did not meet with your expectations on this occasion but are struggling to understand why, when so many of our customers rate us a 4/5 star.

The many reviews on this site regularly praise our hotel and its food, friendly staff and fabulous entertainment. Most of our customers return time and again which is testament to the normally good holiday experience provided at the Viking.

You do not detail your problems and so we can only assume that we have to put this down to personal taste.

We hope you would give us another try.

Regards

Sally Carpenito

Just had a lovely week at The Viking Hotel met all my friends from last year all, the chaps from Huddersfield who all come for the Cheltenham races the atmosphere was electric my friends from Buxton Sam and Mary who we meet about 5 times a year, and many more from all over the country you can see why this hotel is number 9 on the best hotel list it will take some beating and don’t forget there are thousands of hotels in Blackpool so well done to The Choice Group.

Room Tip: no pool at the Viking but you can go use the pool in The Cliffs or the Claremont hotels for free.

Having stayed here on 5 occasions previously, a mixture of short breaks and Christmas party nights. I have to say something has gone terribly wrong here...!
The check in was, well, awful. The staff, all five of them present never spoke a word, just handed me the usual form to fill in then put keys on counter and walked off. found out our room number with key fob, not the usual verbal explanation previously given nor the little card that you normally are resented with here. I questioned evening meal times, again the nonchalant staff member, a senior too according to her badge, just quoted its the same as always so that told me. The room, well, if you enjoy the sound of running water through the night, the gurgling and rumbling of pipes room 115 is for you. The view is spectacular if a derelict room, litter, bins and debris is your thing- not mine!
As I've always tried to be balanced in hotel stays and my views, I can truly justify our dissatisfaction here and hope for others sake the issues mentioned & other smaller gripes too are taken on-board for future guests... We sadly wont be one of them!!! Gripe over!!!

Room Tip: Avoid room 115.
