“Great food and entertainment”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

Booked a two night stay to meet friends for a reunion. This hotel was excellent for food and has its own entertainment venue attached ideal if the weather is bad as you can access it from the hotel.

Staff were very pleasant and keen to ensure you had what you needed especially the dining room staff.

One thing that lets this hotel down is the rooms they are very outdated and need a good refurbishment. Bathrooms were adequate but again dated. Our room 236 was a seaview room with a double bed and single bed in so although big any spare room was taken up by the single bed.

However, all was ok with the room until we came to bed and that was then we discovered we were over the entertainment venue and they had a very loud disco on until 2am. The noise was awful and to add to it they started hoovering the dining room before 7am the next morning so not much sleep for us.

I spoke to them the next morning and me complaining about the noise was no surprise to them at all they were obviously used to it one girl even said "oh yes it is a noisy room". They swopped our room with someone who was arriving that day and it was lovely and quite that night. I got the feeling they put people in that room knowing they will have to move them the next day. They really need to sort it out or not rent out those rooms affected.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms over the entertainment venue ask for top floor. Definitely dont take 236

We only stayed the one night on a deal from Booking.com, evidently they open up unsold rooms for a one night stay instead of a minimum two nights. The room was ok, very clean but very noisy from the two adjoining rooms, the floor boards creaked so loud from both rooms, the water being turned on, toilets flushing and next doors mobile phone vibrating alarm at 6.30am.Unfortunately breakfast didnt start til 8.30am so we had a long wait as we were thoroughly awake after all the noise.Breakfast was ok as was dinner the night before apart from the small portions accompanying the main dish, I think we had 12 chips between 2 of us, breakfast was help yourself buffet, so plentiful !!!
One of the best things about this hotel is the staff, they are all very friendly and helpful, very pleasant.
The entertainment is another good thing about the Viking, particularly the excellent Buddy Lee and the very good singer Lee Brady, we enjoyed them both very much.
All in all we had a nice stay, but the smaller back rooms need better sound proofing, at £85 for 1 night I would have liked a better quality sleep !!

I have read previous reviews which have raised poor food quality and high prices. However, we found the food to be great and Bar prices which reflect the cost relating to the superb entertainment. Buddy Lee and the rest of the entertainment are top class and it's well worth a visit.

Just had another 2days stay at the Viking Hotel. Thoroughly enjoyable just as we expected. It was a last minute decision and it lived up to our expectations.after our evening meal we spent the evening in the talk of the coast in the company of the very funny compere Buddy Lee. 2great singers Carol Kaye and LeeBrady. Then to round the night off along comes the very funny Carl Schofield. We will certainly be returning again. X

After another excellent week at the Viking Hotel Blackpool I want to let people know how good this hotel is! The purpose of our stay was to celebrate my birthday and it was also an all inclusive week (good enough reason to stay there on it's own)! Every single member of staff that I met was very polite and always seemed happy! On the second day of our stay the bathroom light stopped working, within half an hour of reporting it the light was fixed, excellent service! The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels every day. The rooms are not the biggest in the world but what do people want, they are clean, tidy and well maintained! The reception staff are always helpful and are always smiling and nothing is too much trouble! The restaurant staff do an excellent job ( that is a job I would not want to do) even when they are busy they will do whatever they can to make your meal/experience more enjoyable! The bar staff seem so happy and are always willing to help any person enjoy themselves! Now we come to the entertainment, the only word I can use is FANTASTIC, Buddy Lee, the compare, is a much underrated comic and all of the acts were superb! On this trip we went with some friends (who won't mind me saying this) who can be difficult to please, they enjoyed it so much they can't wait for the next time we go! I have never had a bad stay at the Viking Hotel Blackpool, that doesn't mean that I haven't had any problems but they have always sorted them out for me and I would definitely recommend it to anybody who is planning a trip to Blackpool at a good price with excellent service! I will definitely be going again later this year! Well done to all of the staff and thanks for helping to make my birthday a memorable one!
