stayed at the Colwyn for 2 nights 23rd -25th August. wanted to make the most of a full day in pleasure beach so booked for night before and after, great location. Found the Colwyn to be a little dated in areas but spotlessly clean. free wi-fi meant kids could play there tablets before bed which was a bonus. room was a bit of a tight squeeze but dont matter if your not planning spending a lot of time in the bedroom. ( its Blackpool, you just need somewhere to sleep). Breakfast was lovely, choice of cereals croisants ect or full cooked breakfast. first hotel I have ever stayed in that can cook bacon . Coffee, I dont do proper coffee cant stand the taste of it. This hotel gives you a choice and I got a pot of Nescafe.well happy.

myself partner and 2 children had the pleasure of staying here overnight 20th aug. this must be the best hotel in blackpool. The family room was spotless, kids loved bunkbeds. had a good nights rest. bathroom en-suite was excellent walk-in shower nice and hot everything worked! Got up to a breakfast cooked to perfection and plenty of it. Kids were thrilled, lots of fruit juice cereals yogurts coffee and tea plus a full English. we ate so much could hardly move. Staff were friendly and helpful but not intrusive. We were in room 301 on 3rd floor so used the lift which was great. This hotel is in the best spot to enjoy the south pier. We will be coming back here for sure. Bring plenty of money for the many attractions in blackpool, horse and cart 20pd. Wax museum 52pd was brill.

Room Tip: Our room was quiet with a sea view

We've stayed at the Colwyn on a number of times previously and it lived up to our past visits. We had our 2 grandchildren with us and we had a large family room with sea views. The breakfast was excellent and their is adequate free parking. Would recommend it to anyone.

We have just come back from 3 nights in Blackpool. We stayed at the colwyn and it was great! We arrived really early as we did not hit any traffic....our room was nearly ready so we could just drop our stuff off and head straight to the pleasure beach! So handy the hotel has its own car park....and is literally a few minutes walk to pleasure beach and sandcastle water park.
The bed and breakfast was great...the room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious! We went with our two teenagers and although the room was cosy...it suited us fine! After all you don't go to Blackpool for luxury...you go to relive your youth and show your kids the fun sights! Charles and his wife who own the hotel are super friendly and have loads of advice on the local area. The bar was handy for a pre bed time drink while the kids/teenagers played on the play stations in the front room!! We will go back!!! Thanks for making us so very welcome xx

this is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in!!! we wanted a room for 2 adults and 2 children with a sea view. were told we could have an apartment, what a joke. the room would have been a squeeze for 2 adults never mind the children as well. there was a sea view but you had to stand on a table to see it!!! The wallpaper was coming away from the walls in large areas due to damp and the bathroom was so small I banged my head twice on the wash basin while trying to sit on the toilet!!! there were broken tiles in the bathroom, the toilet hardly flushed, the wash basin had a leak so anymore than a few cm's of water in the basin and it resulted in water everywhere and to cap it all the toilet door/lock would not work. all this for the princely sum of £185 for 2 nights!!! couldn't wait to leave. NEVER EVER AGAIN. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Room Tip: Go to different hotel!!!!! I tried to do this in capitals but it won't let me!

Our group stayed at the Colwyn at the start of July. The location of the hotel is perfect. Right next to the Pleasure Beach and its adjoining train station, 5 minutes walk to Sandcastles Water Park and right on the front with lovely sea views. There is a tram stop right outside and the rest of the attractions are within a 10 minute ride. This end of town is also slightly quieter. The rooms are clean and the food good. The hotel's biggest asset though are its staff. We were treated exceptionally well, and everybody made us feel welcome. This hotel is a world away from the chains and mega hotels that some prefer, but in my view, it is all the better for it. I will be back.
