we went for a two night stay to blackpool to take my son to all the local attractions. as we arrived there was a telephone and bell to ring for assistance. we were greeted within a few minutes. as we had requested parking we were offered a space straight away, which was great. the staff were very friendly and our room was very clean the beds were spotless plenty tea, coffee and clean towels. although it was a bit on the small side but as we werent spending much time in the room that was ok. we had bed and breakfast and the food was really good, there was also a pool table much to my sons enjoyment. the hotel was right on the seafront and a five minute walk to the pleasure beach and trams so that was good. the only downfall of our stay was on our second day after getting soaked by the water fountains at the pleasure beach and requesting a hairdrier i was told they were locked away and there was no management about, apart from that after previously staying in some very dirty blackpool hotels i would say this was definately one of the good ones

Just came back from a weekend trip with husband and two kids (age 5 and 2). Found the hotel a great place to stay - 5mins walk to entrance of pleasure beach - a long walk away from the North Pier but just jump on a Tram or Horse & Trap! Great fun for the kids!
Breakfast was excellent! A large selection of cereals, yoghurts, toast and jam, fruit juice etc or have a full english!
I would defenately stay again at this hotel! An added bonus is that it has a car park so no hassle of where to leave the car or worry about it being safe!
Very good value for money!
We had a family room and although small is was ideal for a weekend stay - thay even put a travel cot in for the wee one! Room was very clean with fresh towels everyday and bathroom was spotless! The only thing was that the hotel decor was very dated but in no way would that spoil your enjoyment!
Staff were very friedly and hotel bar is VERY reasonably priced!

Stayed a weekend at The Colwyn Hotel, Blackpool and found it very enjoyable. The room was very clean, clean towels every day, brilliant views of the sea and the promenade. The hotel has a free car park to the front .The owner, Charles made us feel very welcome and breakfasts were very good, a standard english breakfast with a choice of cereals, fruit, fruit juice and yoghurts. We were invited into the hotel next door, also owned by the Colwyn for the entertainment on the Saturday night. I shall definitely go back to the Colwyn when we return to Blackpool and would recommend this hotel.

I visited this hotel on a Friday night with friends. We arrived at about 4pm and found no-one at the "desk." eventually a man came to check us in and was quite pleasant. Our room was very diappointing! Where to begin! The carpet was dirty and marked, room was tiny (had a 3 bed room, could barely walk between the beds,) "bathroom" was a converted cupboard - sink in the acutal bed room, shower was flithy and no hot water. Tea tray flithy - had to reomve the filter in kettle before making a brew! Was told there was a bar in hotel but returned from night out to find it closed (was just before 1am - Fri night.) Parking a nightmare - everyone blocking each other in. Asked for iron and board - staff helpful and obliging. Breakfast just ok - no brown toast, very quick food - not very hot but fine.
Overall, I would say the hotel was not good. It is close to the front and the staff are helpful. The hotel was not clean and the rooms (i saw 4 as travelled in a large group) were dirty and very tired - stains, uncomfy beds, tatty curtains, poor decor, TV nont working, knobs missing off furniture etc. For one night - was fine (paid £75 for 3 person room), would NOT return.

When looking around the internet for 'pet friendly' hotels it really limits your choice and it's a case of either settling for a dingy B&B on the outskirts of Preston or paying the ridiculous price of fancy new mansions who charge an extra £50 for the dog. So we thought we'd stumbled upon a cracker when we found the Colwyn Hotel. For a starters our whole price for the entire stay (2 double rooms for the 4 of us for 2 nights with breakfast and a dog) only £195!! Then we looked into where abouts it was and found it's slap bang on the promenade a couple of seconds from pleasure beach and a minutes walk from the train station!
Initially you would think 'NOISE' especially with a tram stop across the road but I didn't hear a thing, my boyfriend who had never been to Blackpool before was worried about this too but he slept like a log. The staff are lovely. You could not find people more willing to help, the day we arrived one of the cleaners had badly cut her hand but they all welcomed us and made a fuss of Tiger the dog. That was another worry of ours. He'd never been to a hotel and we didn't want to be unable to visit attractions like Louis Tussauds or the Pleasure Beach. However we asked the staff and they said to leave him in the room and they'd look in on him which was brilliant!
The dining room is lovely and breakfast is delicious with cereal, yoghurt, fruit, toast and a big proper fry up! It's so relaxing in the morning after an early walk on the promenade to sit and look out the window whilst drinking a cuppa. There's also a lovely sunny lounge which we didn't actually use and the bar has a pool table and a widescreen telly. Our rooms were lovely and a good size too, each with freeview channels on the TV. They're cleaned every day and to a good standard.
At the end of our stay we were all sad to go and felt like the Colwyn Bay hotel was a home away from home and we would definately stay there again!

Where do I start... The staff were so friendly! they couldn't do enough for you. I moved my car from the carpark onto the road one day and accidently put my steering lock on, (where the keys to unlock it were in Newcastle!!!). I went to see the manager to ask if he had anything to get it off with. He then rang the firebrigade, who (after 2 fire calls) came out and cut it off for me! I couldn't thank them enough and felt so stupid but we all laughed it off. The breakfast was lovely and had no complaints with it at all. The only thing wrong with the hotel was the size of the rooms! But when you are in a hotel, its only a place to lay your head. But I must say the whole hotel was very clean and even the cleaners were friendly (which doesn't often happen!! Another advantage was how close it was the Pleasure Beach. Thanks Colwyn for a lovely stay at Blackpool.
