“Great family holiday”
Reviewed 21 August 2011

We have been to The Claremont as part of a large (up to 20) family group for several years. It is in a great location for all the family, close to the town and on the promenade. All the staff were friendly and helpful, from Tanya on Reception who deals with our 'demanding' booking to the busy but very cheerful restaurant staff to the polite and thorough room cleaner to the welcoming and very professional manager, Marcus. Our room was clean and comfortable, other members of our party had great sea views. The children love the pool. The service in the restaurant was very good, especially considering our party size. There was a good choice of meals, meeting our wide range of tastes.

Booked Monday to Friday, we arrived late but just in time for dinner. My husband is disabled and was astoinished to find where our room was situated no help was given and staff very un helpful. As it was our first time at this hotel couldnt believe how narrow the hallway was and very dirty. Plaster falling off walls sharp artex in hallway. rooms very claustiphobic. When going down to restaurant lift very cramped. Sat at table for at least 20 mins before seeing a waitress asked for water waited another 5-10 mins for it to arrive The staff seemed unhelpful and meals bland. booked out after 2 days went to another hotel wouldnt reccomend claremont to anyone. Poor entertainment expensive drinks and in need of refurbishment badly

Booked direct with choice hotels paid £358 for Monday 15/8/11 to Friday 19/8/11 Half board for two adults and a teenager.
Hotel does not give a good impression from outside it needs a lick of paint and the windows cleaned!! But inside was OK with the exception of the foisty smelling entertainment room, & the dark dinning room.
Food was lovely PLENTY choice something for everyone and kids menu on request. Fast service at evening meal no waiting time between courses unless you ask for breathing space.......
clientele a mostly families and the twinset and pearls brigade no stag and hen parties here.
We had a lovely clean room on the first floor with a huge window on the side of the hotel above the bar great sea view (no extra charge) No noise from the bar either. Bathroom very small but served its purpose (toilet was squashed between the bath and a wall )
Pool very small but clean and warm with a jacuzzi also towels provided! No charge.
Entertainment really good but could start earlier saw some good comedians and singers. Room gets hot and busy one game of bingo between 9.45pm - 10.15pm. Drinks on the expensive side £3.20 pint of Larger £1.00 very small glass of coke.
Kids club looked fab in the basement for tots to teens lot's to keep them happy good staff there too.
On the whole good value for money fresh clean rooms with towels changed daily and good food what more could you want?

Dont book this hotel if require any form of rapour witrh the staff. Our check in was a very confused and time consuming affair and far from a warm greeting.
Although we had paid £85 00 for the room for bed and breakfast on entering the room we were very disapointed with the very tired appearance of the room.wall paper scraped and damaged and peeling of f in various locationsThe room was basic but clean and the beds very comfortable.
Breakfast was served from 8-930 the dining room is dark and uningviting as were the reception staff on the desk who seemed indifferent to our being there.
The breakfast itself was very good and our waitress very plesent, this however was the exception in this hotel.
This trend continued at checkout, depositing our key at the desk on the way out no one asked whether we had enjoyed our stay was everything to our satisfaction, not a bit of it.
If you want to stay in a hotel where the staff are indifferent to you and only seem intersted in earning a wage this is the place to stay.

We always enjoy a weekend away at theClaremont, it's the staff that make the difference.
It has a very freindly atmosphere, good qaulity food and the service is always excellent. We are even on first name terms with the manager (Marcus). It is an old hotel with all the quirks of an old building, but its always kept clean and tidy and the rooms are of a good standard. Well worth its 2 star rating. We will certainly be returning in the future.

this hotel is very good, it is a bit tired looking as outside could do with a lick of paint but its the best hotel that i have stayed in blackpool because of the food, the swimming pool, the entertainment and the kids club,
my son ryan age 11 loves the pool and the kids club and its great cos i got the chance to relax while he attended the kids club, he was there till 10 pm and he loved it.
he also spent time in the lovely pool and met new friends there too.
we were half board and the food was great., great choice too and the only fault i found was that the lamb was very fatty.
we were in room 204 which was very nice and had a side sea view, this room is near the lift .
thanks again claremont hotel and will return next year.
