My wife and I stayed at this hotel over a weekend recently and found it to be very nice and will definately return. We asked and got a double sea view room (212) and was really impressed when we walked in. Clean, Bright and spacious with a decent size bed. I myself work as a maintenance manager on a 100 plus bed hotel and agree that there are things that need adressing, but the guests need to realise that in the current economic climate, it is very difficult to survive in the leisure industry and you only have to look around your own local surroundings to see how many businesses are going to the wall. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I believe the management of the hotel have got it spot on, in that the staff are all so polite and happy and the standard of food and choice on offer is quite amazing. The manager certainly has a happy ship to steer.

Earlier this year we had booked an executive room at a very well known hotel in Southport. The room was very basic with no extra facilities and the staff`s attitude towards their guests was that it seemed they were actually doing you a favour by letting you stay at their hotel. We did not even stay the night and will always avoid dealing with that company ever again.

It is so refreshing to see that this hotel goes out of it`s way to accomodate their guests and even their standard room is of a better spec than what other companies would call executive. Will be back soon.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view and you won`t regret it.

We stayed at the Claremont on 2 and 3 September in a family rooom. Having read the review about the noise coming from the fans I was quite concerned. On arrival I spoke to the Hotel Manager who showed us our allocated room on a plan and explained that we should not hear any noise. We were even shown our room before checking in to ensure we were happy. The room was spacious, with tea making facilities and a flat screen tv. The only downside we found was that it was too hot, but even then we were provided with 2 fans.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The spa pool, jacuzzi and sauna was a fab way to relax at the end of the day, with free towels provided. The food was very good and my husband commented that we have never stayed in a hotel where you are allocated a table to dine at for your entire stay!! He was also impressed that he could have his daily newspaper delivered to our room early each morning. My 11 year old son also enjoyed the Base which is a supervised kids club. All in all a very good short break and I think the Claremont deserves a higher rating than a 2*.

We booked a last minute 2 night break on the strength of the internet listing and photographs, but the hotel was nothng like we expected. The hotel is in dire need of a makeover, it was very shabby in the public areas, and our room was just acceptable as we were informed that we had been upgraded to a seaview room, so I don't like to think what the original room was like!!.The hotel was quite noisy as you could hear people banging drawers and cupboard doors and using the toilet in adjacent rooms!!. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the pool area was very relaxing, but we would give this hotel a miss infuture.

We stayed Monday to Friday full board and the food was excellant, 4 star quality. Lots for the children to do and good entertainment at night. The swimming pool is a bit on the small side but we all enjoyed it. The rooms are basic but clean and the staff very helpful. The only negatives we had was only one toilet in the public areas and down some stairs and the drinks were a bit pricey, but all in all a Brill hotel and we will stay there again.

Room Tip: The rooms at the front of hotel are best

We went to stay here over the Bank Holiday weekend, but was so angry at how "god awful" the room was that I ended up demanding my money back and due to lack of availability of family rooms around Blackpool ended up ditching the weekend stay and returning home.

The reason for the bad review:
1) There was a really loud rumble that sounded like you were sharing the room with a road sweeper. Turned out that this was the extractor fan for the kitchen that would continue until 9pm and start up at 6am. I for one had no intention of spending the weekend with a cranky, sleep deprived toddler.
2) The manager admitted to myself that they had been having long-standing problems with the water heating that meant that you could usually only get luke warm water out of the taps most of the time.
3) Bathroom and hallways were a bit tatty and grubby looking.
4) Pricewise this hotel fell just short of the Hilton (we only stopped here because of the childrens club & activities), but in terms of quality they are oceans apart.

On the positive side, the manager did refund my money promptly and they did try hard to try and locate some alternative accomodation around Blackpool.
And to be honest, the manager admitted that his hands were tied (being manager within a hotel chain) in terms of not being able to highlight to the customer the problem with the room at the time of booking.

Room Tip: Whatever you do, DO NOT ACCEPT A ROOM AT THE REAR OF THE HOTEL because you will probably not get a w...

stayed for 3 nights (monday to thursday), me, wife and 13 year old son
not many parking spaces at front of hotel but decent size car park at rear (over road) of hotel (the hotel has flats in same area)
most of the time your car will be blocked in but you have to hand in keys so i assume someone can move them, although we got out no problem on the day we left.
plenty of choice for meals and hardly any wait times, waiter service for your bar drinks at meal times as well. we had bed, breakfast and evening meal.
you can get meals at other times of the day which we had the day we arrived, chea enough and plenty of choice.
decent bar and bar staff, plenty of choice.
show area offered childrens entertainment and singer each night, singer was what you would get in a workmens club,
bingo of course, kids area which had pool table and computers.
swimming pool area was clean and busy when we went, although it was raining, couldnt really swim its not big enough but nice and warm and passed 45 mins or so, also sauna and plenty of places to sit. no staff when i was there,
you could also book some facials etc in the room near the pool.
its about 5 mins walk from the north pier, but bus stop and tram stop outside.
room was ok as was the bathroom, freeview tv, we were on second floor with view of back street, very hot, needed window open all night, water hot at all times.
hotel had mix of all ages and staff spot on.
blackpool its self pretty much as per usual although doing plenty of work around the tower area and of course pleasure beach worth a visit.
all in all well worth the money, we have been before, around 8 years ago and although hotel is clean it could do with a makeover in some areas.

stayed with my mom and 10 year old daughter , not great to have to park your car at the rear of the hotel , room was quite large for the three of us , swimming pool fantastic , food fantastic , staff fantastic , entertainment very ( as simon cowell would say ) amateurish dancers were great if you like a lot of swishy hair extensions and bad cheorography , they were called the sensations , sensation at what we never found out , any way on a more positive note kids club was great ( apart from i think there should be an age limit as there was some early teenagers there ). singers and comedians very dated but entertaining aftrer a few beers ! to end it all like i said the staff were lovely and so was the food , i am very fussy and they couldnt help me enough , definatley worth a return visit, almost forgot the music is quite loud so invest in earplugs xx

Room Tip: ask the staff they are quite helpful
