I booked this hotel based on the reviews on various websites and couldn't believe this was the same place I'd read about. I'm sure if you had one of the rooms at the front overlooking the sea you may think this hotel was OK. Our room (132) was so far at the back it overlooked the road behind the hotel. You had a "3 mile hike" down a maze of narrow dirty corridors to get there.

On the tea making tray was a crumpled open tea bag that looked like it had been in someones pocket for a month.

Our room was the size of a shoe box. The toilet was crammed in alongside the bath with barely enough room to use it without causing yourself a mischief. There was a towel rail on the wall in front of the washbasin, at shoulder height which meant you had to stand sideways on to use the basin. There was mould between the tiles. The mattress on the bed was so worn you could feel the springs and it bounced like a trampoline.

The linen room and housekeeping staff room was right by us and at 7.30 we were woken by the staff laughing and shouting to one another. The view from our window was a steel staircase right across the middle of the window, and next to the window was the extraction unit from the kitchen, that sounded like a jet engine. Outside our room just to the left was an exit door which was filthy with plaster board around it cracked and hanging off. There was an offensive odour in the corridors that smelt like boiled cabbage.

It was advertised with free WIFI and free parking. When I couldn't get the WIFI to work and phoned reception I was told "the WIFI's rubbish unless you're in reception". This is a 150 room hotel with parking for about 50 cars. When I arrived I was told the car park was full, when I asked where I could park the receptionist shrugged and said "you'll have to park in one of the roads". After driving around for 40 minutes I managed to park 1/2 a mile away.

All the staff seemed overworked and uninterested in the customers. You're paying 1st rate prices for a 3rd rate hotel. The facade at the front looks fine but at the back where we were it's dirty and tired, with cracks and holes in the walls. Looks more in parts, like a seedy squat than a hotel. Worst place I've ever stayed. Inspect where they try and shove you before parting with any money. I paid £198 for two nights I feel totally ripped off.

Room Tip: Avoid 132 or anything at the back

Have just stayed here for the first time, & would definitely go back. Room was great, v clean & had a sea view although we didn't ask for this. Staff were great, apart from the one female (older) who was working on the bar. Very rude, unhelpful & couldn't accommodate my child's food preference. The other man on the bar however did help us.

Room Tip: Ask for room 302, you get a sea view from the side window

We booked the Claremont as our usual Blackpool hotel was fully booked. The staff, service and food were excellent and we will be returning. We asked for a twin and received a double and single. It was at the back of the hotel no views but we didn't mind as we don't spend time I our room. It is local for both buses and trams. Bar prices were reasonable. we only stayed in for the entertainment one night and the comedian was great. All you can eat breakfast and the choice of main meals at dinner can not be faulted. My Husband has special diet needs but found the choices no problem. The hotel was being refurbished and painted and the only fault if it is one is there is only 1 lift

We stayed at the Claremont for a long weekend and had a great time. We have stayed at a couple of other hotels in Blackpool and thought we would give this one a try and was very impressed. First impressions on check in was that the staff were very friendly and everything was clean. Our room was located at the back of hotel with views of the road but this was not a problem as it was very quiet, spacious and clean. Excellent family room. The location of this hotel is great as it only a short walk to North Pier and Blackpool Tower, however if you need to go further down the prom there is a tram stop opposite the hotel and a bus stop. Also if you don't want to use your car then pre purchase a weekend ticket for the trams from reception which you can use all day long. The bar and café have plenty of comfy seats perfect for relaxing at night if the entertainment is not for you. The food in the hotel was excellent with a good choice to suit everybody, service was excellent, breakfast was buffet style so you could have as much as you wanted. The new lift was a great addition to the hotel, being more modern and more efficient. We will definitely be visiting this hotel again in the near future and would recommend it to anyone. Thanks to the management and staff for a fantastic weekend.

It was a last minute decison on the Thursday night to have a weekend away with my wife, Blackpool was chosen and The Claremont was booked due to decent reviews, facilities and a good value offer for Dinner, Bed & Breakfast.
We were allocated a family room on the top floor which had a double and single bed, the room was a good size and VERY clean. Some of the corridors could do with a refurb however the cleanliness continued in all areas of the hotel, the housekeeping team deserve a mention for their hard work and efforts as do all the staff who were very polite, professional & friendly.
The 3 course dinner was of a very high standard and service was very efficient, equally so the breakfast was very impressive.
There is Bus and Tram stop directly outside the Hotel along with a small taxi rank, so getting around is no problem although we chose to walk into the town which only took approx 10 minutes. Parking is limited outside the hotel (as most hotels in Blackpool) and we decided to park in one of the nearby pay & display car parks for the weekend.
The only minor 'complaint' I would have is that the ensuite shower has poor hot water pressure and on several occurances the water flow stopped completely.
Would I recommend this hotel ? Definately

(We actually got talking to a local taxi driver who said there is only a few hotels in Blackpool he would recommend and stay in himself - The Claremont being one of those)

I have stayed at this hotel at least once a year for the last 15 years for the excellent food and location,it has never let me down so far.I can highly recommend the all inclusive deals and it is a must for families as with the kids base club and swimming pool which is always hard to drag the kids out of!If your worried about the Blackpool weather with the kids this hotel is ideal. The evening entertainment room saves wondering what to do in the evenings its all taken care of.I have stayed with family from the ages of 6 to 88 and everyone loved it!

Room Tip: rooms on the 3rd floor are quieter, family rooms are large.
