“VERY FRIENDLY HOTEL”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 September 2011

We found the staff at the hotel excellent, polite and obliging in every way - especially Carl who really goes out of his way to help. The food and rooms are very good. However, we feel there should be more than just one Disabled room for a hotel of this size, four would be more feasible. Again, due to the size and location of the hotel, parking is very restricted and there are only four spaces for the hotel. It is advisable, therefore, to book a parking space (especially if a wheelchair user) well in advance.

After our elopement to Gretna Green, we decided to spend our honeymoon in Blackpool. As expected, The Strand didn't disappoint.
We were extemely well looked after by the excellent staff...nothing is too much trouble.
Food in the hotel is outstanding, and we would particularly recommend the Bed, Breakfast and Evening Meal option.
We paid slightly more for a sea view/ executive suite, which was well work the extra few pounds. The room we stayed in was in a boutique style, and was spacious and clean.
We can't recommend this hotel highly enough and will return again and again.

Phoned up bokked a few days in advance for family room, none left so offered 2 double rooms at same price.

Arrived and gave my name everything was ready for us,all the staff are very friendly and very helpful,Ive noticed that some of these reviews mention slow breakfast, well that has been adressed as it is now a great buffy style all you can eat breakfast very nice.

Evening meal differant every day most things home made differant choice of 3 starters and 4or5 mains and 4 deserts.( I RECOMEND GO FOR BBEM IF STAYING ANY LEGNTH OF TIME) after dinner its down stairs for the entertainment, some good some not so good but all fun and the kids loved it, 2 pints, a coke and a blackcurrent£ 6.50 not like some rip off hotel bars ive been in .The owners are very hands on and very friendly as are all the staff, great stay I wouldnt go anywhere else if staying in blackpool again. cant think of any complaints at all. Thanks to all the staff colette Ian and kids see you soon :)

Room Tip: ask for sea view

Just back from a 5 day break to Blackpool, this is our 3rd year in a row visiting Blackpool and yet again we thoroughly enjoyed it, indeed 5 days was not enought! We decided this year to stay at The Strand Hotel partly because of the reviews on trip advisor and also the Stand's website depicted a very modern, contemporary hotel.

The hotel indeed was very nice, upon arrival, the male receptionist was very warm, welcoming and informative. Our room was not ready so he followed up with this and the room was made available in no more than 10 mins (no major issue with having to wait) We were in Room 204 which overlooked the sea, a wonderful view when the weather is geat! The room itself was clean and quite spacious however the bathroom was not very practical for a family with the shower / bath being very awkward to get in and out of. Apart from this the room was very good, The Stand Hotel themselves upgraded our room to sea view prior to our arrival, so this was a very appreciative gesture.

My only downfall with reference to The Stand Hotel is the breakfast and staffing at the breakfast. During our time at the hotel, there were only two floor staff on at breakfast time, therefore thw wait to be seated was lengthly, although tables were free they had not been cleared, this was not down to the girls on the floor but lack of additional staff to assist. The girls were very obliging however on the last day of our stay when we arrived for breakfast, there was very little left. My husband spoke to one of the waitress who arranged for hot food to be brought out, the mushrooms were not cooked. The chef came out to the restaurant (probably to check what was left) and touched the hot foods (sausage etc) with his fingers / hand!

Overall I really cannot fault The Stand Hotel, I would recommend it, the parking was ideal, there are four parking spaces at front of hotel and parking on a nearby side road. The tram stop into the centre of Blackpool is very close to the hotel. The hotel offer reduction on price entry to certain attractions ie Blackpool Zoo / Blackpool Tower Zoo (avail of this).

We hope to visit Blackpool again and I would consider staying at The Stand Hotel.

Room Tip: Sea view if possible! If a family Room 204 not practical.
