“A warm welcoming hotel complimented by warm welcoming staff”

I really enjoyed my visit to the strand, as a solo traveller I normally stay in the hilton with work commitments however I never receive the same hospitality as I did with the strand. The blonde receptionist ( sarah I think the young lady was called) was fantastic, she made me welcome on arrival, helpful and nothing was too much trouble,an assest to your team aswell as the rest of your staff who were very polite and informative. I would in future book here than the hilton and will be back in july with my partner. Great work all

my booking experience was excellent, and the staff were as good as the initial contact suggested. We had 4 rooms, and all were clean, though two were a wee bit on the small side.
The entertainment was excellent, and the bar prices very reasonable. We were a bit disappointed with our meal on our first night, coolish scampi and rather sad and wilted salad, but we did eat later than the hotel would have liked, and the waiter was so lovely and helpful, there was no way we would grouse. Breakfasts were great if you were down sharpish my son and wife were slow both mornings and had a rather dried offerings. Saturday evening meal much better. We went for the murder mystery evening, and it was a brilliant night. I haven't laughed so much for ages. the hotel was quiet, and the owners friendly, approachable, and amenable. I would definitely recommend another murder mystery weekend. i use a lot of hotels through my work. In my experience, This is by far the most helpful staff team.

Upon arrival the staff were friendly and we checked in ok. After unpacking we headed down to reception and asked for a map of the area and were given blank looks. What hotel doesn't have a map ofthe surrounding area? We went to the nearby Hilton where the concierge was more than happy to help us and, crucially, provide a map. The next morning we had no hot water in our room and so went to recpetion to let them know. They were surprised when we said we would like to have hot water that morning. We went to Breakfast, got changed and headed out for a walk, enquiring as to wwhat was happening with the hot water on our way. We were told the engineers were looking at the problem - great! We returned 2 hours later and politely asked what the situation was with the hot water to which the recpetionist snapped back at us "It's been fixed!", because obviously we can read minds. On top of this there was no apology offered for the inconvenience. We showered and left again. Upon our return, not only did we find that our hotel room had not been serviced, but that it now stunk of smoke and a towel had been thrown on the floor. Needless to say we won't be coming back to this hotel again.

Room Tip: Avoid at all costs

TheStrandManager, Manager at The Strand Hotel, responded to this review, 9 May 2012
After a full and thorough investigation into the complaints regarding our hotel and the staff this review is unfair and incorrect. We have spoken to the guest ourselves and he admits that our receptionist was not rude, we did not have a map at the time in our stock but offered directions to the town centre and asked if there was anywhere in particular this guest wished to visit. This conversation was witnessed by our bar manager who asked on their return to the hotel that evening if they had managed to get a map, “he said he didn’t bother and just headed towards the tower?” Regarding the shower issue within 5 minutes of being told that he had no hot water our maintenance department knocked on their bedroom door to be told to come back later. When the shower was checked later it was found to be in perfect working order with ample hot water. No mention was made to us regarding the room smelling of smoke during their stay (our hotel is non smoking throughout) and when we asked about this on the telephone he said “well we were only staying another night what would you have done about it, opened a window?” To which my receptionist said she would have happily changed the room for them. Housekeeping records show that the room was indeed serviced. May I suggest that the room was serviced prior to them coming back late morning, after their walk, to shower? My receptionist has apologised to this guest if her manner came across as abrupt. To give us a slanderous review like this is in our opinion unjustified.

Star rating needs looking at, all ok on Initial arrival, although new front doors are needed, on getting in the room the carpet was stained and walls very warn and marked, in need of decoration ,although you can tell at one point it was worthy of its star rating but as most hotels in Blackpool they struggle to keep it up and soon look tiered and old, with the likes of the premiers and travel lodges who maintain on a regular basis and are of similar costs it is no wonder Blackpool hotels are struggling to keep up with the ‘new look’ promenade.

Second and certainly not my last visit to this jewel of a hotel. A lovely modern but homely hotel with pleasant and friendly staff. Jayne the owner and staff (Karl, Francis, Sarah and Michael in particular) cannot do enough for you and make you feel cared about especially as a solo traveller.
The rooms are lovely with all mod cons., very clean and comfortable. Food is excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed my meals. Entertainment every evening was enjoyable and catered for all tastes. This time we had the added bonus of a travel pass for local transport and I certainly took full advantage of this, visiting parts of the area I had not got to before. This hotel is a real 'home from home' and it is no wonder they have gained so many prestigious awards! Well deserved for the hard work which goes into making the hotel such a lovely place to stay. Thank you for a lovely time, wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Just back from spending the Grand National weekend at the Strand Hotel in Blackpool. On arrival we were offered a free upgrade to a suite which gave one of the best views of the beach i have ever came across. The hotel was spotless and was definetley one of the best if not the best i have stayed at in Blackpool. The staff were very friendly and accomodating, the food was good and the bar (especially the prices) was all you could ask for on a lads weekend at the races. Will definetley be trying to get booked here again for next years Grand National and would recommend this Hotel to everyone. Cheers guys.

Andy, James and Alan, Glasgow.

Just wanted to recommend this fantastic hotel, my family and I, 2 adults and 2 children stayed for a 3 day break, everything was just perfect from the hospitality and the friendliness of all the staff to the delicious meals and the best full Engligh breakfast we have ever had. This is served buffet style with pastries, cereals and fruit and a massive selection of cooked food.
We had an adjoining family room, very nicely decorated, spotlessly clean and the kids loved having their own room and bathroom. The entertainment was very good and enjoyed by us all, we were glad to stay in because it was very chilly outside, typical bank holiday weather! The hotel is a short walk from the tower but the new trams stop right outside the hotel so we hopped on them, everyone must have had the same idea though because they were very busy. Thank you for the homemade Easter gifts in our room a lovely touvh. We hope to be back very soon.
