“One of the best in Blackpool”
Reviewed 28 May 2012

I cannot recommend the Doric Hotel highly enough having stayed on a number of occasions. The Hotel is ideally situated on the Queens Promenade and there is a bus stop and tram stop immediately outside. It is a family run Hotel and, therefore, nothing is too much trouble. The staff do everything they can to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and they are warm and friendly from the moment you check in. Rooms are excellent and the restaurant has a most extensive menu for a five course evening dinner. Entertainment is provided each evening and is suitable for all ages. Whether you are on your own or part of a group this hotel makes sure you have an enjoyable stay. All the staff are really friendly and they remember you. I have stayed at other hotels in Blackpool but to me this is one of the best along with its sister hotel, The Park House.

Having noy stayed at the Doric since 2006, we were absolutely amazed the Restaurant Manager, not only remembered us but as always, treated us like royalty. A caring, articulate individual, who always puts the Customer first. His cooperative, friendly attitude quickly compensates for any shortcomings (car park!) in this top of its star rating hotel. He even started breakfast early on Sunday to assist our early schedule. Bravo!!

Room Tip: Side or sea view.

i have been going to blackpool for 50 years now and have stayed in many hotels.i would recommed this one as great value for money.it is geared up for older people or familys with young kids.its a bit outside blackpool town centre but has a tram stop accross road.i have stayed here about 4 times now only down side is hotel is kept far to warm. and some rooms are a bit dated .but in genral hotel is very clean.food, service, pools etc all first class.give this hotel a try.

Room Tip: get a sea view room if possable on first floor

Stayed here a few years ago and it did not dissapoint. Was a last minute decison to have an overnight stay as I love blackpool. Receptionist very helpful on the phone , they said they were full but she rang me back minutes later said yes there is a room available. Arrived at lunchtime so partner and I had had a toastie each and a soft drink,, excellent, we were given room 1 which was a suite we had bunk beds and a double room with shower and bath very spacious and spotlessly clean, everything we needed. Only downside the pelmet had fallen off the curtain rail but managed to close them eventually , iI did report on checking out. We had evening meal adn breakfast which was excellent along with the service. The entertainment was ok but hotel had private function on so was busy with other guests. The car parking here is brilliant as there is spaces at the front along a side street but also if you ask like I did you can park at uncle toms cabin which is across the side street, I went in and they said it was fine. There is also a tram stop ("cabin") right outside the Hotel

Room Tip: Room 1 was really spacious handy to the ground floor and all facilities even though we have no child...

I have just returned home from a reunion with members of the 46th Entry (Hereford) RAF Boy Entrants. We were just 15 1/2 years of age and upwards when we first joined all those years ago.

The Doric in Blackpool was chosen simply because it was central for all those attending. What an excellent choice it was. The staff were efficient, polite and friendly. The hotel even provided a 'host' who made sure our event and our stay at the hotel ran smoothly and this was much appreciated.

For anyone who is considering organising a group get-together in this area, I would heartily recommend this hotel. Whilst certainly not the "Ritz" it nevertheless gave a high standard of performance in most areas. My only major gripe was the fact that as the hotel is deservedly busy, car parking has its difficulties with insufficient on-site parking, leaving guests to cruise local back-roads to seek a parking slot.

Having made my first visit to the Doric with a friend who knows the Doric well, I can only say that I was totally impressed with the whole holiday. The room we were in had been updated and was certainly first class. The staff were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble for them. The menus for the week were impressive and James and his staff were excellent. We certainly will return later in the year and would recommend the hotel to friends.
