Phil and Julie are an exceptional Couple that you will find difficult to find, especially in this day and age.
They go beyond Professionalism, Integrity and Caring. When you visit them you feel part of a family, nothing is too much, you will notice the small, almost imperceptible things they do that makes them the magnificent Hosts they are.
They will know it may not be too often when they come across....James, Elvis and the bulletproof Monk. I would Highly Recommend a marvellous experience with them.

Room Tip: rooms available to suit.

We have stayed before at the Hounddog, and we returned due to the superb service. Everything was beyond brilliant, and recommend the Hounddog to everyone.
It very clean comfortable, along with being a home from home.

This was recommended by a friend who had stayed there on several previous occasions and although I suspect he picked them because of their low price (£20/night, including breakfast!) I'd have to say it's absolutely NO indication of quality.

The establishment is run by a couple (Phil & Julie) who can only be described as "salt of the earth" - they're incredibly welcoming and friendly, doing their utmost to make you feel at home. Their lounge (doubles as a dining room) is Titanic-themed, full of interesting memorabilia - you could sit there and take in the sights for hours, or just chat to them of an evening. Although they have no bar licence, they have a bar and are willing to chill and serve any drinks you obtain from the nearby off-licence. They'll also do evening meals so are actually a Guest House rather than a B&B, but weren't doing any over the bank holiday weekend. Nonetheless, the seafront is only a 2-min stroll up the road (quite close to Central Pier), upon which are plenty of eating and drinking establishments, so it's not as though you're stuck for places to eat.

Our room was pretty plush: a double and single bed, both 4-posters, taking up most of the space, between which is a kettle and a range of drinks on the bedside cabinet. In the corner is a tiny en-suite, stocked with towels and some complimentary soaps. I found the sink difficult to access but the shower was lovely and warm, and the room dry and inviting after a wet bank holiday weekend. Being further off the road there was no noise, and I enjoyed a few good nights' sleep.

The morning breakfast is a pretty huge fry-up, and they'll keep you topped up with toast, tea/coffee plus a range of cereals and fruit juices, so you're pretty much stocked up for the day.

It was an enjoyable stay, and a complete bargain for what we paid. I'm definitely planning on returning.

Room Tip: Watch out for on-street parking - competition for parking spots is fierce!

every visit to blackpool has been made special by these two wonderful people who tirelessly go out of their way to give you excellent service and value for money. I've been to blackpool 5 times in the last six years and ALWAYS stayed here. Its absolutely brilliant, and julies breakfasts keep you going until long after lunchtime. Theres not a bad thing i can say about the place..

Steve

Me and our family stayed here over Easter with the kids. They loved it. Phil and Julie are the nicest people u could honestly meet, can't do enough for you, they went out of there way to buy my little boy a birthday cake and done the dining room up in banners for him. The breakfast was lovely, fresh, cooked food. We had the biggest room :) which was great, loads of room for our family of 6, we will def be returning here in the upcoming months.. Kids missing Phil and Julie already. Can't wait to come back.. All out love from Gemma, Joanne and kids from Belfast xxxxx
