Loved Illuminasia. Very colourful. Lots to look at and interactive in that you are given a card with some questions and have to scratch off your answer. You then get a certificate from the gift shop. You can take photos and there is a short laser show at the end. Quite expensive - £12.95 for an adult ticket but we managed to get some discount vouchers so paid less. Even so I would definitely recommend going as it is very good and original.

This is amazing!!! Extremely good attraction. Both entertaining and educational. Suitable for all ages. Colourful and interesting with the wow factor!! The only down side was the price. For this sort of money I would have expected it to last more than the 90 minutes we were there.

We visited Blackpool for the first time last week - when we mentioned to family we were going for the day, they said they had read something about some Chinese Illuminations which were new so we decided to find them when we were there. We asked in the Tourist Information because having driven a couple of times down the seafront we didn't spot it, they told us it was in the Winter Gardens - (they also sell cheaper tickets here than on the door!).
We honestly did not know what to expect because they have only just opened but it was stunning!!! It's perfect for children - our three (aged 5, 3 & 1) thought it was magical. So much work must have gone into them, there are illuminated figures, buildings, animals, plants, fish etc etc - and some are absolutely huge - there is even a Terracota Army! Children get a scratch card to go in with and have to count and spot things as they go round, then when you get to the end, you hand it into the shop to get a certificate. There is also a little live show at the end (I think more could be made of this though - there is one person in a costume doing some slow dancing with lasers which was a bit boring - it's a great idea but would probably be better with more people and something a bit faster??) Also the gift shop is a bit of a missed opportunity - there is one that sells flashing lights etc but there isn't much on display - most people are willing to buy a little something - you should have much more on display. I recommend the balloons which have a flashing light inside. Overall great experiance - we just wanted to go round and round it again - which you can if you want but we didn't beause we had to go. They also let you take photos too!
