Winter Gardens takes you back in time with its grand design. Attention to detail in the décor was great and 'Illuminasis' was a must do when visiting

Very creative Light Art Exhibition worth a visit. This exhibition is as beautiful as it is creative a good reason to visit the winter gardens too where you'll find many other interesting sights and wonders too. A wonderful building in itself though don't forget Illuminasia a wonderful way to fill an hour.

The Winter Garden has been purchased and is being restored by the Council. It is fantastic. The cafe has snacks and drinks and is a lovely experience (We had ham & cheese toastie with salad for £2.70; great value) There is a short film running in the cafe on a loop and is fascinating. Current installation is Illuminasi is an 8-room light display constructed of metal frames covered with brilliant colored silk. Well worth the admittance. Give it a visit; you won't be sorry.

Luckily I hadn't paid for this online - when we arrived at the counter to pay we were advised locals get in for £5 each. What a relief! And I say this because it was worth £15 - just - but I would have been unhappy if I'd have paid full price! We sauntered around in 1hour 15 minutes, completing the scratch card competition, and my 6 year old enjoyed it - but as she said, she prefers the real illuminations much more (and they're free!). Don't get me wrong, they are lovely, but it's expensive (even at £15!) and I wouldn't go back.

Mums with push chairs also struggled with all of the steps inside - it's an old building!
